Worth spending a couple of hours
Spent a good portion of a wet and windy afternoon wandering around this lovely visitor centre. There are plenty of informative displays and the staff were friendly and helpful. The centre had free wi-fi which we put to good use. There are a couple of beautiful stained glass windows integrated into the building - can thoroughly recommend having a look.

Spend a few hours here to enhance your mount Cook experience
Excellent visitors centre for advice about walking options, an excellent exhibition over two floors a small shop and toilets. On the day we arrived it was recommended we do the Hooker walk as weather was deteriorating which proved excellent as we enjoyed a beautiful walk. The exhibition really requires a few hours to learn about the history and geography of the area. As my short walk day pack was damaged I purchased an excellent fold up pack which will be great for future travel.

    Good Stop
We so often find the Visitors Centres in New Zealand to be full of information, interesting products and very helpful staff and the Mount Cook Visitors Centre certainly is all of this. There is also really interesting information about the area and the history of it. We recommend stopping in here when you visit Mount Cook area.

This is a fantastic visitor centre. It’s huge with two floors. Lots of information, maps and displays to read and look at. The kids were given a scavenger hunt to complete. There is a shop attached.

Can book tours from here. A nice laid out exhibits and information with the most incredible view. Have a small shop there also and toilet facilities close by.

The visitor centre is huge with lots of information on the area. I was in Aoraki Mount Cook for a week with my son and he never got tired of wandering around the displays. He also had great fun doing the Kiwi Ranger activities. The DOC staff were really friendly and full of useful information, and good at suggesting walks based on your experience.
