Went in the evening, hoping to see bats emerging, and we were not disappointed. This small urban forest is well worth visiting. Lovely tracks, and great during the day as well. Seeing the tiny, endangered bats flitting above the trees at dusk was a fantastic experience.

Well kept tracks and close to the township of Geraldine. Birds fly over your head and the smell of fresh forest air is great.

Just up the hill, right in Geraldine. Some very short adjoining tracks through native bush. Lovely, cool and shaded on a hot sunny day. Plenty of birdsong, and peace and quiet. We saw a couple of picnic tables dotted along the way, would be a nice place to come and have a quiet bite to eat.

Very accessible and has a wealth of birdlife just on the outskirts of Geraldine. Great for a short walk.

The tracks around Geraldine are full of bird life - and thank God no poison (it's not a coincidence).
This is one of many interconnected walks around the hillsides - in any weather, superb diverse environment. Beautiful.

Walked through here at about 9am. The bird calls were amazing. It was a beautiful walk but to atop and listen to the birds calling was really special. We did the Totara Walk, which was short and easy. If you aren't into birds or NZ native plants, you might find it a bit underwhelming, but for us, it was fantastic.

We were driving south out of Geraldine when we decided to turn left up a hilly street before reaching the edge of the township. To our surprise, we stumbled upon Talbot Forest. It's a beautiful native forest with lots of trees and birds. We thoroughly enjoyed walking on the well-marked paths, listening to the birds and looking in awe at some of the very large trees - matais and totaras. There is a reasonable sized carpark and there are seats and picnic tables scattered around, with public toilets close to the carpark. The walks are easy - suitable for all ages and all levels of physical fitness. It's a superb hidden gem in Geraldine and we recommend a short visit of up to an hour, or take a picnic lunch and stay a bit longer.

This is a surprisingly scenic park not far from the town. It’s relatively small, and you can walk the paths in less than an hour, but some of the trees are huge! There was only one other car in the parking lot, so not crowded.
