Resita Steel Factories - built in the Austro-Hungarian times, one of the most modern factories in europe in those time - started to build Steam Engines in 1872 and stopped in 1968.
During the period it did work has built like in excess of 1400 steam engines of more than 10 different models - and were in service in several countries over europe.
What you have on display here is many models of what the factory has produced.
Also the highlight of the display is the no.2 steam engine that rolled out of the factory in 1872 - called "Resicza".
Entry is free - no tax whatsoever - you have some small plates with information near the engines so you get some information about the engines .
Overall is very interesting for those into steam engines (and not only) . The engines on display are fairly well maintained so it is an excellent place to visit.
Go see for yourself once you are in the area.

Such a great idea to have the collection of locomotives in the open air! They are so elegant and fearful,a nice glimpse of what the city used to build.

Resita is a traditional industrial city funded as such in 1771 and is located in the Banat Hills - South Western Romania. In 1872 the first locomotive has been manufactured in Resita. The Locomotive museum has been established in 1972, to celebrate a century of manufacturing steam engines in Resita. 16 locomotives from different eras of construction are exhibited, of which 14 were produced in Resita. The first three locomotives were reproduced after a prototype built in Vienna in 1871, and called 'Szekul', since it was intended for the Resita-Secu (Secul) Railway line. I used this museum many times showing it to my friends and tourists from Western and Europe and we have used it for Photo Shootings in the Framework of international Workshops.

First of all I will say that Resita is really small city and one of the things you can do or see in Resita is Muzeul de Locomotive.
There is no charge to see the place and also its open to the public 24 hours, 365 days.
The complex, the museum is right in the middle of a small park in Triaj, Resita.

The museum is actually a park filled with steam locomotives. Access if free. There are 14 steam locomotives on display (most of them are built in Resita). Some technical details are presented for each locomotive. The piece de resistance is a locomotive from 1872.

It is located in the central part of Resita, an open-air museum. It contains wonderful steam locomotives, but unfortunately it is not very well promoted by the public administration.
