We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring the park. There is much to be discovered: waterfalls, crystal clear water, vendors (food and souvenirs) and; creative and interesting rock work. There is more, a zip line, cliff divers, and a trout and salmon farm - which is not to be missed. Hint: they will catch, clean and fillet a fish for you. We got one small salmon (trout was not offered that day) and for 43 pesos we had a fish filleted that was perfect for diner-it does not come fresher than that!

Another, and maybe the most important part of the whole experience is the people. We were there on a Sunday and the park was packed. Families, couples, everyone was enjoying the park while co-existing: politely enjoying view points; taking pictures, and then moving on so others could do the same; respecting no smoking rules; and keeping the park clean. As 2 of only 4 gringos in the whole place everyone returned our smiles and greetings and we chatted with a few people enjoying the park and curious about where we came from. Enjoy this place, it is a gem!

I came here expecting to see a river that appears out of nowhere and then disappears. I got so much more. For starters, made it there by way of second class bus. Sadly, no chickens, but no a/c, and the entertainment was provided by a passenger's boom box. When the bus stopped in the middle of nowhere for seemingly no reason, the driver was good enough to come back to the bus's sole grunge to explain to me we were waiting to meet up with another bus. But back to the park.... Water of all forms everywhere. Waterfalls. Fountains. Walls shooting out water. Gorgeous orchids everywhere. The designer of thispTravis a genius. Stayed st an utterly charming b and b named Casa Chikita, run by two delightful young artists from Mexico City, who were sweet enough to not let on that they spoke perfect English. They even took me to a party at a friend's home. Uruapan is the world's avocado capitol; the guacamole was beyond amazing. Beyond that, it is a sleepy, dusty town. I loved it.

Honestly, I have never seen or felt anything like this. Water everywhere! Lush. Plants. Trees. Birds. Flowers. Tranquility. Greenness. Water. Everywhere. OMG. What a treat for the eyes and senses. Absolutely magnificent and worth a trip to this area for this very reason.

Uruapan. Avocado capital of the world. Fabulous coffee growing area. Macadamia nuts - check. Cacao- yup. World class scenery- no doubt.

Don't miss it.

If you are stopping in the area of Uruapan this city park is not to be missed. There are walks, lots of waterfalls and fountains The plant life is luxuriant and the whole area is cool after the hot sun you are exposed to outside the park/. There is a trout farm where you can feed the fish and even buy one for your supper. Lots of little cafes in the park at which you can stop and eat along the way. The washroom facilities are spotless. Entrance is only 25 pesos per person. Uphill one way and cobblestone paths so wear sensible walking shoes. Not for wheelchairs, strollers or for anyone who has difficulty with walking. Most visitors to Uruapan would be staying in Paztcuaro and it is only a 1hr bus ride from there. Take a taxi from the bus station to the park.

This park is super beautiful, the sound of the water from all the different waterfalls and fountains combined with the bird song completely drowns out the sound of the city. This makes it seem as though you are much more rural than you are.
I would definitely go again. It is also worth waiting to watch on of the cliff divers over the waterfall.
The paths were slightly uneven and there were quite a few steps but it's definitely not a hike/strenuous. Take your time and stop to listen and look at the flowers.

I'd advise going early-ish (I went at about 9) as this means the park is virtually empty. As it is so close to the city it is popular with the locals and can get busy at times.

We spent a good hour strolling around this jungle oasis in the city of Uruapan. The walking isn't difficult, certainly not worthy of being called a hike. My mother in law, who suffers from knees problems, did ok, though there are a lot of stairs and hills. There are vendors selling food & wares throughout the park. And we enjoyed the divers who jumped from a platform and a tree into the pools. There is a trout farm within the park where visitors can feed the fish (which we chose not to do). All in all, it was a pleasant visit, and I'd visit again just to walk beneath those trees listening to the springs & waterfalls. This place is about the atmosphere.

I thought the park was very well done and enjoyable. It is very well kept and has an incredible amount of water moving around. Photo ops abound. My comments are:

You should not need a guide. But, know that they have no maps to hand out. Signage is a little light. I photographed the giant map at the entrance and found that to be a complete waste of time as it is incorrect and incomplete.

The food and beverage sold inside is expensive. Water is 15 pesos. Save some money and bring your own.

Most of the "handicrafts" sold inside are made in India/China, etc.

There is almost no flat surface to walk on. If you're not on steps you will be on uneven cobblestone like paths. Plan accordingly.

25 pesos to get in is a good deal, but 3 pesos to use a bathroom seems a little much after paying the 25 pesos.

Take your time, walk slow and take it all in. It's like being in another world.

50 acres of spectacular landscaping, following the trails through an ever-changing array of flora and fauna, waterfalls, trout farm, following the Rio Cupatizio is why everybody will appreciate visiting Uruapan. Entry from either the south or the north is only M$25 and enjoy this Ntl. Park for as long as you like. We spent more than a 1/2 day and could've easily stayed longer. Wear good walking shoes and bring food/drink with you or purchase from the many vendors throughout the park.

Very nice park and very enjoyable alone or as a family. It's a nice place to enjoy the nature and get rested or just relax.

If you come to uruapan just for the park, I can recommend the hotel which is right next to the park.

We got to visit this park while staying in Uruapan on an organized tour. It was only a 15-minute walk from the downtown area. Admission was 25 pesos. I was surprised at how pretty the park was with charming paths, lush vegetation, a small stream and numerous man-made waterfalls, pools and displays. It reminded me of something you would expect to find in Florida. We spent a little over 2 hours but could have spent much longer if we had the time, and would have eaten lunch as there are several restaurants in beautiful locations. There is no brochure for the park but they have a couple of map boards in different locations that you can orient on. In the back portion there was a trout farm but we did not have time to go in. This is truly a highlight to see.
