Visited here after seeing the dinosaur museum. The building which houses the salt museum is beautiful and very well maintained. It gives a decent explanation (in English) on the exhibits themselves and you can hire an English guide if you happen the be there at...More

This eighteenth century building from the heyday of the salt trade is arguably the finest monument in Zigong. It has two massive door guardians, a grand entranceway, some large courtyards with opera stages and, most impressively of all, gorgeous carving throughout. It is worth lingering...More

Don't waste your time, very boring and dull vibe. Half of the museum was closed, and all the models showing old mining techniques were falling apart. Informative, even in English. You would have to really like salt to want to come here

The bilingual (Chinese/English) displays are modern and...More

Interesting history about how they invented elaborated machines to get the salt out of the ground. The building was even more nice. Since it is a small place you do need more than an hour.

I came to Zigong just for the dinosaur museum and when I reached here I asked around and I realize there isn't much to do or to see in this city. The dinosaur museum open at 10. So before going there I don't want to...More

Not exactly an inspired theme, the salt museum reveals how a substance so ubiquitous and cheap was once so cruelly win. Also its role in Chinese social and political history. The building alone is magnificent. Don't muss the teahouse over the road in an old...More
