Small but very informative museum giving an insight into bygone days and the history of the Rhayader village and area. Interactive displays and a change to do brass small rubbings which us three 60 somethings found great fun! Lovely staff all of which took time to chat and answer our questions.

We were visiting the town so after noticing the signs pointing to the museum we visited. It is a little walk down the main street but worth it. Friendly staff at large reception area .It is housed in a nice modern building and most of the informative local history can be viewed on displays and push button DVD information in... More

This was enjoyable but very small. Being used to so many free museums in Wales it seemed a lot to pay for one room of exhibits. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed my short time here.

I spent much longer in here than I anticipated - the talking tapes were addictive and I liked the way all aspects of local life were illustrated. When I was there (June 2016) there was also a great exhibition of textiles on the ground floor. Lovely staff too.

As they say a little can go a long way. This is so true of this museum. It might seem a little room with just some things on the wall, but when you read all the information, you come out with so much knowledge about the history, the people and the cost of what these dams stand for and why... More

Staff who want to engage with you to let you know what if on offer, not only in the museum but also locally. They have a wealth of experience and knowledge which some museums sadly lack. Some years back they held a Roman exhibition which was very well presented and gave one chivers walking around the exhibits. Not from the... More

This is one of the few tourist attractions in Rhayader. It is a little bit out of the centre, and it was surprisingly difficult to find. The museum consists of an upstairs gallery and an exhibition space. I only had time to visit the gallery, which was devoted to local history. I learned a few interesting facts about Rhyader, but... Featuring names from the famous war memorial clock tower in the centre of town, 10 of the local men who went to fight for King and Country in the Great War and did not come back. Their lives have been researched, and the exhibition has photographs of them, their families, where they lived, and where they served and died. Very... More
