Selby is a little visited town, yet surprisingly really nice. We visit on a Monday as the outdoor markets are really worth a walk around, (take a large bag with you!!), and the beautiful Abbey is well worth a look into.

Selby Abbey is steeped with astonishing history, an archive of interesteing facts. It's interior has a quite hypnotic and calming effect, that is in a good way. On departing, one can feel completely relaxed.

Love my classic cathedrals/abbeys .selby is a fine example .great design but almost understated .looks a little vulnerable as its not a great exposing building but that's its charm its just beautifull .

We were astonished by this very beautiful church. We discovered it by chance passing on the road and got interested by the road signs "Selby Abbey". The church is well preserved with nice stained glass, wooden roof. Outside is beautiful with gargoiles and a garden....More
