We had a beautiful relaxing stay in this wildlife haven. So many huge butterflies! We stayed at Hoang Quan’s Homestay and Hoang took us on a great trek.

We arrived by minibus, booking one way only, as the only transport back to Hanoi that we could find online leaves at 4am. But no worries as once we were there, Hoang booked us onto the local bus, which leaves at 7.30am and midday every day. They even collected us from our Homestay! It was just as comfortable and quick as the tourist minibus.

A magical place in the middle of North Vietnam, i had a 2 day/3 nights trip there organised Mr Linhs adventures..very friendly and professional tour agency, it really made a difference! A homestay in the middle of a jungle with local people is already an adventure. But its just the beginnning.. you can do boat tripscatound the lake, visit ethnic villages and learn about their life, or trekking in the jungle/mountains to discover the beautiful countryside in Vietnam. Highly recommended!!

We went by Limousine bus from Hanoi and stayed 3 days in the village. We hiked a little and on the 3rd day we took a boat ride on the lake. Not tremendously interesting but very peaceful as there are few visitors on weekdays. First stop was Fairy Lake, but no idea why it is called that. When the boat moored we had to climb a small hill and then down the other side to reach the lake. Souvenir stalls and food stalls lined the pathway. A few people were sat by the lake which was a brownish-green color. Next stop was the shrine on An Ma island, again a path led up to the small temple with plenty of souvenir shops on the way. Last stop was a small island which was basically a rock in the lake, but the name escapes me. There are 5 different prices for the boat trips, depending on how many attractions you want to see and the length of the trip.

We booked a 3D2N tour from Hanoi to Ban Gioc Waterfall, which included a visit to Ba Be National Park. We took a boat ride in the lake, which included three stops (Farry Pond, An Ma Temple, and Widow Island). We don’t really find the landscape and the stops very attractive for us after visiting Ninh Binh and Halong Bay. Personally would not make a separate visit here.

Thank you Jon for your sharing your opinion, we are sorry however Ba Be National Park did not leave its mark on you! Indeed the karstic mountains may not be globally renowned such as Halong Bay or Ninh Binh, but this park is a treasure in northern Vietnam as it hides one of the 20 natural freshwater lakes in the world, but also waterfalls, caves, a deep jungle with many trekking trails, and ethnic villages. With more days spent in Ba Be, we are willing to bet you would have learnt to appreciate it ;) Maybe next time! Ba Be National Park Team

Breathtaking view . We rented a boat that took us to the stalactite cave, the Hindu temple for lunch and a trip to the waterfall. The waterfall is disappointing and can be given up. You can request a boat custom to stop to swim

Thank you so much for your review! We are happy to read you appreciate the tranquility and stunning views provided by Ba Be National Park. The freshwater lake is perfect to relax, swim or do kayaking. Dau Dang is a lovely waterfall but rather small indeed if you compare Ban Gioc Waterfall located in Cao Bang at the frontier with China. It is the fourth largest waterfall in the world! Thanks again and we hope to see you again someday! Ba Be National Park Team

An amazing, unspoiled, quiet, beautiful place well worth the visit. Away from the crowds.
We spent our first week in the in Hoi An and Hue which was great but manic. So much going on, so busy. Ba Be National park was the opposite, so quiet and unspoiled. A beautiful place and not touristy. We went with Mr Linh’s Adventures. With our guide Loy and driver Mr Long. They were amazing and totally added to the experience and could do enough to make it the best experience.
We had a real feel what real life is like in this part of rural North Vietnam. It’s not spoiled by hoards of tourists and I felt that if we weren’t their life would just be going on regardless.

Only the two of us on the boat, had a high cover which was great. Had three hours saw amazing scenery huge cliffs of rock coming straight down into the water, fishermen with their cast nets, local farmers, riverside villages, small temple and cave to explore.

Ba Be is a great place to visit. Stay in quaint Home of one of the locals, take a long boat out to a market or hike to a waterfall.
