Do not trust all the praises made on this island, on foot it has no interest. Possibility to rent bikes and scooter, but be careful there is no beach! Numerous coves but the sea is hardly accessible, or the corners are crowded.
The ideal is to go around the island by boat, from 10.30am to 4.30pm it will cost 60€ per adult, including meals. Stop, frequent swimming, good atmosphere. Be careful to favour family boats rather than bling bling, you will be more comfortable and in the shade.
Thank you to Maria for this day! At the bottom left on the part leading to the water (in barca con Maria)

Yes, Cala Rossa is beautiful but the advice I can give you is to visit it by land. I made both excursions both by sea and by land but I guarantee that getting there by bike, moped or like me with a small engine car was a unforgettable experience. You leave the car about 600 meters away and begin to cross a terrain made of rock with irregular shapes. As we get closer we see these stones carved out in a geometric shape and of a light color that reflects even more the rays of the sun. These are old abandoned tuff quarries inside which you can see real gardens that the people of Favignano have created. We will have a breathtaking effect when we get closer to the sea and find a real Dante-esque panorama made of stones you roll into the sea and the environment is closed by these blocks that leave you astonished. The water is a Caribbean blue green with very white sand. The emotion is a lot. A tip: bring rock shoes or gym shoes, access to the sea is not very easy .Not to be missed

Breathtaking panorama with cliff overlooking the sea. Not suitable for children due to danger and difficult access to water. There are no beaches, access to the sea is via rocks and it is not possible to meyy3r3 an umbrella. Rock shoes required!
Go there when the wind is not blowing from the north, the high waves become dangerous. Clear but very polluted water, we collected a bag of waste caught in the water

There are no words to describe this place, it is a spectacular place. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes when it comes to getting to the road and going down to the cove, after which you change shoes to a pair for rocks in order to facilitate the descent into the water. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't find it impossible to access this place, the important thing is to be very careful. Once you arrive you will find yourself faced with a wonderful sight, a crystal clear sea that I have never seen in my life. There are several kiosks on the road where you can stop. I also recommend renting pedal-assisted bikes or scooters because the roads on the island, especially for Cala Rossa, are uphill. The whole road to get there is really worth it.

The game is not worth the candle. Since it was closed to traffic the road and parking lots to reach this beautiful place is impossible. The probability of getting hurt is very high. Rescue vehicles could not reach the cove (which is not a beach but a cliff) because motorcycles and bicycles obstruct the passage. A real adventure never to be repeated. Reach it by boat and you will not regret it. Unless you're an experienced rock climber.

Cala Rossa is scenically splendid (with these cut tuff rocks), wonderful water like in the rest of Favignana but access to the water is not the easiest. There is no beach but only rocks, more or less flat, sometimes with spikes. Then there is sand in the water.
There is a single little bar at the top, before going down towards the sea. You must leave scooters/bikes/etc. at a certain point and then continue on foot for about 10/15 minutes. We were there in May and there was no one there, I don't know what the parking situation could be like during the super crowded summer period.

Paradise place, breathtaking views, crystal clear blue water, all on the rocks, there is no sandy beach, you have to adapt on the rocks but absolutely worth visiting. Already in June it is quite crowded but it is absolutely worth it. You need rubber shoes for easier access to the sea.
Swimming in this blue is lovely!

Once you arrive the view leaves you speechless. The sea is a beauty that deserves to be seen at least once. It is true that going down is a bit uncomfortable and not so suitable for children but once down a nice bath pays off with fatigue. Recommended shoes to go down and rubber shoes for the rocks as there are no beaches. Not recommended for those who can not swim. For those who do not want to go down there at least for some photos.

Very nice but...
It is not really a beach but rather a creek within walking distance
Unfortunately we could not enjoy it because of the wind which makes swimming almost impossible because dangerous
I wish I knew before rather than losing an hour of walking....

Incredible spot with the most amazing water. Super clean with a stunning rock setting. Not the easiest to access but 100% worth it if you can get there. Recommend the little aqua shoes sold in the town!

Written 20 May 2018

Written 4 February 2018

Grazie!
