We went here to swim which we did with wetsuits as it was pretty chilly. We also walked around it which was a good day's walk. Have a look at the photos - they speak for themselves.

This lake is just magical. It's so tranquil and calm, and has outstanding views. Find a spot that allows you to swim and you'll be in heaven!

A stunning lake on a fabulous roadtrip for those preferring to travel on two or 4 wheels. We went in February when there was plenty of snow for skiing but the roads were good and passable for a break from Garmisch to exercise mind and...More

At the foot of the mountains this lake offers many opportunities to walk, jogging and riding the bike in very quiet paths.

The Kochelsee is a nice Bavarian lake but its neighbor lake Wachelsee is much much more scenic. The surroundings of the Kochelsee are mountains ("falling into" the water) only on a third of the lake, the two other thirds are flat and much more common.
