We were driving through from Whitianga to Tauranga for the night and decided to stop by to view the murals. It being evening, a lot of shops were closed or were near closing, so there wasn't much to do except to walk around and find the murals. The murals themselves are very well done and worth a look if you... More

Got to Katikati late and drove through twice for only a look from the car which was interesting and fun. Still, not stopping was our loss, as there must be a great story behind the artwork. Would be better to plan more time and get out to wander the town and see the murals up close.

Katikati was just a stop off whilst travelling through NZ and what a surprise it was, A very arty place with plenty of murals and not to mention the Haiku Pathway. I was very impressed with what it had going for itself. Well worth a look.

Both our dog and our legs enjoyed this walk, and the art gallery and shops we peeeked into. Met some nice locals and learned history of the area. You can get a guide to follow from the info site if you want.

Having read about these murals, I was very skeptical and thought they would be small and probably a tad tacky. How wrong was I - they really are quite big, very well done, and scattered around the town on the sides of buildings and walls which would otherwise likely be dull, and/or graffitied on. Some are 3D. Each of the... More

The murals are scattered around town, without a guide map it's difficult to find all them. We unfortunately went there on Christmas Day, visitor centre was not open... we left soon after driving around the area for a bit

This small, friendly, bustling town got its name because several years ago it decided that a way to have passing motorists stop there was to create something unique - like murals. There are many murals, mostly on the main street, alongside stores, on walls, in alleyways and generally in places you would not expect. You could see most of them... More

We enjoyed the parks walking trails and the murals on the buildings. Freedom of speech and expression is obviously one that the citizens enjoy. One of the murals does not paint a favorable picture of folks from the United States. Maybe some of it is accurate. We found most of the folks to be friendly.

I thoroughly enjoyed the murals as we got a tour by a family member. Great that the art is maintained and repainted regularly. It would have been better if the murals were in numerical order instead of #1 being on one side of town and #2 on the other side. You can buy an info book for $5 at the... More
