Salt Cay is a wonderful place - quiet and no frills. This is not a place for people who cannot entertain themselves. The island has few year long residents but during the November to April time frame Northerners come to spend the winter. Some come...More

This is probably not your place if you want luxury, room service, golf, tennis, tv, organized activities, artificially enhanced landscape, a Disney-fied experience. Maybe not right for everyone ... but perfect for me! The possibility of snorkeling with humpbacks during their winter migration was the...More

We highly recommend Porter’s Island Thyme and Coral Reef Bar & Grille. Be sure to reserve your table and order before 3PM on the day you plan to dine, or even the day before. If you like wine, you can order a whole bottle and...More

Location of the Castaway cottage was perfect! I can see why they call it the Castaway. You feel like you have the beach all to yourself. Private and just a step away to the crystal clear water with the most outstanding coral head reefs. Where...More

A place to just "be" and enjoy the peace and quiet. Life is simple here its like going back in time. Just a 2 day stay can leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed.

It is truly a treasure. We spent two weeks, mostly on the beach, reading a wonderful array of books from the library. We took long walks and bicycle rides. We made sure to turn off our lights by nine so that the cows could sleep,...More

Can you enjoy a vacation on Salt Cay? The answer is yes if you want to disconnect from everything. This is an island that feels forgotten. It feels like the Caribbean's version of a town that has sort of died - the industry it used...More

Was the restaurant "Porter's Island Thyme" sold and still being used as a restaurant? What about the Castaway Cottages? Are they still available to rent?

Porters Island restaurant closed as they retired. They sold the restaurant and the new owners are building a house. So now there are only 2 restaurants on the island. I believe the castaway cottages are still available to... More
