Middle Caicos Co-op Artisan Studio & Outlet is a non-profit venture...

Middle Caicos Co-op Artisan Studio & Outlet is a non-profit venture devoted to the traditional handcrafts of the Turks & Caicos Islands. Located beside the famous "Daniel's Cafe by the Sea" in the village of Conch Bar, Middle Caicos it offers a broad introduction to the cultural heritage of the Turks & Caicos Islands. A wide variety of traditional handcrafts are on display and available for purchase, with the added attraction of ongoing production and live demonstrations. Boasting the largest collection of TCI handmade items: straw-work baskets, bags, brooms, hats; conch shell bowls and jewelery; rugs and doormats; hand carved model sailboats; paintings - the Middle Caicos Co-op Artisan Studio & Outlet also offers postcards and calenders depicting the traditional lifestyle of Middle Caicos. A highly recommended day-trip for those visiting Providenciales and neighboring islands!

Quaint little shop, locally made crafts

Surely a small studio. However, the crafts made here are made by island ladies with island materials. This studio is part of an effort to keep alive some of the native culture... read more

The co-op is touted in the travel mags as having 60+ artists represented. It would be pushing it to have 60 items in the whole place. Most of it was baskets and a few purses; few of each. Certainly not what we expected to find. Wondering if the location is struggling since the near-by "Daniel's Cafe by the Sea" has... More

Surely a small studio. However, the crafts made here are made by island ladies with island materials. This studio is part of an effort to keep alive some of the native culture that is being lost with the younger generations. The people making these items work with the younger generations to keep the long traditions and crafts alive. If you... More

Excellent little shop with reasonably-priced local goods. Bought some great baskets as gifts to take home. Eat at Daniel's while you're there!

Great value, design and worth the trip. The Artisan's Studio is full of hand-made items that can fit anyone's lifestyle. Stop next door for a bite to eat and cold beverage/music. Really laid back atmosphere

We were surprised upon arriving here to see the doors locked and no real interest in the place. A guy from Daniel's Cafe found a key and talking with him turned out to be the best part of the whole experience. The shop itself was filled with very little in terms of handicraft, and most of it was very overpriced.... More

My family of 5 visited on a HOT day. There were 2 artisans in the shop working on their crafts and we asked them questions politely. You could buy anything right there and it was a nice thing to have. It is an honest way to eek out a living braiding grasses and making purses and bags, etc. And Sailboats... More

There isn't necessarily much to see here, although you may be lucky and get to see one of the local artisans weaving, but this is still a great place to go as a tourist. TCI's main island of Provo has very few places where you can get a genuine souvenir. At the Artisan Studio however there is an extensive choice... More

Thanks to Sara for running such a special place- the ONLY place in the TCI where I buy my souvenirs. The items are all made from wonderful people- who you might catch working in the show, or whom Sara can tell you all about. The shop is cozy and welcoming. Check out www.middlecaicos.biz to order some of the amazing products... More

We always like to bring back something from our vacations that are from the locations we visit. It's often hard to find something made with pride by locals, and far too often we find trinkets that have a city name painted on some plastic made in some other part of the world. This co-op is a true gem for vacationers... More

The Conch Bar Artisan Studio, also known as the Middle Caicos Coop is a must when visiting Middle Caicos, or TCI in general. From handcrafted bags, baskets and rugs, to jewelry and hot sauce, the co-op has something for everyone. Not only does the not-for-profit coop sell its produce, but it also runs a Seniors Workshop every Thursday from 10am,... More
