The castle was already closed when we arrived but we walked in the castle area and took some pictures. There is a chapel on the hill, a Neo-Romanesque sepulchre chapel. From the chapel area you have a beautiful view of Mespelbrunn

What a wonderful experience to visit Schloss (castle) Mespelbrunn! Less than one hour by car from busy Frankfurt, you arrive at a place that seems like a different world. You find yourself stepping back 500 years and into a dream. Time travel has never been...More

Lovely peaceful place, this was our second time here. Sadly the paths, and roads were ice covered and the lady of the castle said it was too dangerous to open all that day.

This is a very pretty castle in a hilltop forest. There is a small museum and they raise trout in ponds. There are hundreds of years of history here. It's worth taking a look if you are in the area, but don't go out of...More

The area is beautiful and we enjoyed the best apple cake at the Hotel Schloss Mespelbrunn. We visited on Friday, May 26th and it was closed. It was a lovely setting.

Arrived in Frankfurt, got our car and an hour later, we stopped here. Very pretty setting. Cute castle/residence in a small town. Very nice, well kept up, interesting history. Tour was in German. Old guy didn't know (or want to say anything in) English. The...More

The castle is interesting but don't bother if you don't speak very good german! The castle is also kind of in the middle of nowhere, we struggled to find anywhere to get a drink / snack.

This easily accessible palace is a classic structure, and worth seeing anytime or any day... fall and winter are particularly nice, with fewer visitors. Take the tour, its interesting and offered in many languages.

We stopped on our way from London to Prague as was only castle directly en route - though not as spectacular as some of Bavarias offerings this certainly had an element of magic. The castle itself was €5 to enter the grounds more for a...More
