Moderate / fairly easy hike up the volcano and absolutely stunning views at the top, worth every step! You definitely need a clear-ish day for this to be able to see the lake at the top, but a few clouds make for a beautiful view...More

The hike up is about 2 hours, and is an easy one. I have severe asthma and neck problems and the hike was very pleasant. Now, once you get to the top you won’t want to come down. There is this beautiful bright sulfur lake...More

El Salvador's highest and most active volcano, the area used to be considered dangerous (hiking alone is still not advised), but in recent years security and infrastructure has improved greatly. Hike offer fantastic views over the nearby crater lake Lago de Coatepeque.

This is a relatively easy hike but the rewards are incredible! The views and colours at the top are hard to describe. If your in Central America and are interested in volcanos this is a must! Unlike anything I've ever seen before.

My family climbed this Volcano, kids 9, 10 and 12. It is a perfect day hike with a stunning payoff at the top. Never seen anything like it. Beautiful. Guides and guards go up daily at 11. Must see if you are in El Salvador.

What a trip! Super cool! I did Izalco and Santa Ana volcanoes in the same day (yes i am sore now) Both were great, but different. Santa ana hike is not that difficult - nice scenery too on the hike. But what was truly unforgettable...More

A beautiful hike where the reward is waiting for you at the top of the volcano. You can go by chicken bus from Santa Ana. The hike starts at 11 am everyday. It is not allowed to hike by yourself.

It is recommended to take the guided tour. It starts at 11 a.m. but it's better to be there before that time. 10:30 would be the best time to get there. You will have to pay for the entrance to the parking space, then voluntary...More

It takes 2 hours to get there from Santa Ana by chicken bus and only for 90c. The hike is easy, 3 hours both ways. Great view from the top.

Yes! We drove ourselves. I would get there around 10:45. I do hear the bus is cheap, but driving was no problem.

Sorry for the delay in responding... $3.00 person in the car to drive in the gate, $1.00 at same entrance to park. In the parking lot we got the overview of the hike from the tourist police of which the Maine theme was... More
