Good place to visit during winter. Specially who wanted to escape from city's cribbing and noice to listen the chirping sounds of birds. Stayed TSTDC guest house. Bit high tariff during weekends but good landscape to walk around. Had done trekking. Kids will enjoy. Overall good place to visit for one night.

Ananthagiri hills are 10 km away from District headquarters of Vikarabad. Ananthagiri hills are main water source for Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar and also Birth place of Musi River.
Ananthagiri is one of the best one day outing point near Hyderabad, which is @ 90 km away from Hyderabad and Road is in good condition. Recent days its getting more popular due to its dance forest area and Swayambu Anantha Padmanabha Swami Temple.
This is the one of the best trekking place available in Telangana District, There are two ways for trekking in this forest, one is starting from Anantha Padmanabha Swami temple and another is starting @ 0.5 km away from temple. Both are good points to start and this is most favorable trekking for new beginners.
There is Haritha Hotel available to stay in such natural location which is maintaining by Telangana Tourism Development corporation. I will prefer to stay at least one night here, but due to time constraint I was returned on the same day.
Top Attractions:
1. Anantha Padmanabha Swami Temple: This God is Swayambu and most powerful God and temple is also have different architecture with Swami located inside Cave
2. Musi River Starting Point: To see Musi Starting point one has to walk around 500 steps down from the Padmanabha Swami Temple
3. Shooting Spot: Which is most memorable spot and also good sceneries' are there for photo shoot. This is adjacent to Musi River starting point
4. Godamguda View Point: This is one of the most visited view point in Ananthagiri hills which is @ 1 km away from the temple
5. Trekking and Campains: This place is also famous for Tracking and overnight campaign with Tenting
6. Ananthagiri Waterfalls: These falls are nice to enjoy during Monsoon
Best time to Visit: Monsoon is the best season to Visit as one will see all greenery in this dense Forest and also can enjoy waterfalls

We went to vikarabad by car from Hyderabad with my family including kids. It was two days trip. First day we planned for camping in the hill top. Harivillu/penguin resort arrange the camping, bonfire, barbeque, trekking etc. It was great experience in the tent inside a forest. Kids enjoyed the experience lots.
2nd day we moved to Haritha Resort, hardly 3-4 km from camping site. Visited temple, viewpoint and near by forest area of the resort. Food is ok in Haritha, break fast is very good. Room in bad condition, ac standard rooms, walls are broken, bathroom utilities are broken, TV not working, my 5yrs old son refused to stay😁, anyway after using swimming pool he was ready to ignore those small things🤪.
Next day morning after breakfast we checkout from Haritha and move towards kotapally Lake. It is 20km from the resort. Enjoyed kayaking lots.
Started to back to Hyd around 2pm and reached by 4:20pm. Roads are good.overall very good trip and enjoyed lots.

A one day road trip to Anantagiri Hills from Hyderabad is OK. The road from Hyderabad to Vikarabad is in good condition. Once you are in Anantagiri Hills you can visit the temple, there is a walking trail thru the hills, there is a lake for Kayaking and then there is a view point. There are no restaurants in Anantagiri Hills and you have to come back to Vikarabad for food at Annapurna Restaurant which is closest to Anantagiri Hills. A day trip during winter or monsoon season is recommended.

Make better use of your time and money rather than going to this place because
1. The roads are single lane with no dividers, so driving and overtaking is very dangerous.
2. The roads are full of bad stretches for 50% of the way. So driving is a pain.
3. The sightseeing spots are far few and less. So this does not justify going this far for so less benefit
4. There is no proper maintenance, the view point has a dilapidated structure, there is ZERO maintenance
5. The narrow roads wind through villages and dense locality. So you have to be extra careful while driving
6. Night driving is a nightmare with pitch black darkness and single lane roads
Harita resort for lunch review-
Only option on the hills. Avoid it if you can. No corona protection here, no sanitizer, no temperature check, no cleaning of chairs or tables after someone leaves, dirty washrooms and bathrooms.
We went around 3 pm. The food was available....decent taste..enough for filling your tummy.
Menu
1. 2 types of rice - plains and jeera rice
2. 2 types of daal - sambar and spicy daal
3. Curry was not edible
4. Rita was good
5. Fryams
6. Sweet
The only positive aspect was the positive vibe in the temple. Felt very good.
Other than that plese make better use of money time and effort and enjoy your day than full day drive to go here

I went to Ananthagiri with my colleagues. It was an awesome and memorable trip. There are lots of beautiful spots where you can click pictures. We were 5 persons and rented a self-drive car (from Myles) in Hyderabad. The road is full of joy and we enjoyed it a lot. Highly recommended!

It’s pretty remote and takes quite a drive to reach from any of the nearest major towns / cities, but once there it’s certainly a relaxing spot and worth admiring the views. There’s little more than nature, with viewing platforms and sculptures unfortunately knocked down, but equally it’s nice that it has’t become a commercialised spot.
While the views are easily obstructed by fog and the fast moving rain clouds it’s likely you’ll still see much more than you ever would from the cities and the connection with nature is impressive. It was certainly worth the journey and somewhere I’d recommend.

Great place for an outdoor one day trip. Pleasant trekking, picnic, great view, etc. Good to carry food, water, mat/sheet and a bag to collect your garbage.

Friends this is my personal rating based on my visit to this place, however l will try and give you a close and clear picture of Anantagiri hills.l had visited the this place last year in 2016
DISTANCE:It is approx 90 kms (+ -) depending on your starting point from Hyderabad/ Secunderabad.
PLACES TO VISIT:
(1) Temple : Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple of Lord Vishnu.
(2) Woods/Forest area Directions:👉Take the stairs down the temple till you hit the temple bathing area ,continue trekking straight into the muddy track (1km)and you will hit the woods full of banyan trees rooting out from various places This is a very mesmerising place and you can let yourself out, climbing banyan trees like a monkey as l did, clicking pictures posing on these trees.May be your partner will click a picture or two without your knowledge as you fall from these trees. There is a banyan tree swing where you can try your hands on.
(3) River streams but only after the monsoons, they get dried up in summers.
POSITIVE POINTS:
(1) Nice and nearest getaway from the hussling buss of the city( approx 90-100kms)
(2)Provides you a romantic ride on a bike PROVIDED THE WEATHER IS PLEASANT.It will be an unpleasant ride if its hot and sunny and if its raining ,unless you enjoy staying drenched for a long time.
(3) Nature lovers will like this place as it's full of greenary mostly banyan trees and custard apple trees.
NEGATIVE POINTS :
(1) No eating joints at this place, except for tea ,chips packets, soft drinks etc
(2) River streamlets are not round the year( a very important aspect to be
kept in mind) before planning your trip if you are planning to take a dip.(3) Bicycles are available on rent at approx 6-8 kms from the temple on the left side of the road but it works out expensive as they charge on hourly basis.Had the rates been reasonable, it would have been an added fun for hikers and cyclist enthusiasts.
SUGGESTIONS:
(1) Start early from Hyderabad 6-7am latest by 8am.This way you will avoid office traffic in the city limits and even reach early avoiding afternoon ride in the sun.
(2) Travel light, carry just one back pack.It will be very difficult riding on a bike with heavy loads.
(3) Plan a night halt at Vikarabad as it will be very hectic and tight schedule riding a bike to and fro for 200km unless you take a car drive.
RECOMMENDED HOTELS: There are a couple of hotels (200mtrs) from the railway station.Decent, hygenic rooms with a clean washroom for the night stay at Rs600-800/-.I do not remember the exact tariff as we visited these hills last year.
(4)Start early for the hills from the hotel 7-8am.
(5) Have heavy breakfast enroute in Vikarabad itself and carry food packets for your food break
(6)Leave your excess luggage in the hotel room itself as the ride to Anantagiri hills is just 20-25 mins. and check out from the hotel after coming back from the hills.
(7) Start your drive to Hyderabad not later than 5pm as you have a long ride ahead to Hyderabad
RAP -UP : Remember this place is for nature lovers who love hiking trekking and not for Mall kind of people. This was a very long write up but the intention was to take you to Anantagiri hills with me without you actually visiting it.I tried my best to give you an exact picture of these hills as close as possible. l didn't want travel freaks like me to have a hipped up picture of this place and then get dissapointed after reaching there.l might have missed out on places/things, as l visited this place only for a day.Any added suggestions are always welcomed in my post. I will upload the pics of Anantagiri hills as early as possible to give you a visual picture as well. I have to extract them from my PC.

There is nothing much to see except a very famous temple. It's all about hills & nature and relaxing on the lap of nature in vikarabad. apart from temple, there's trekking trail at 'view point' for 2-3km to and from. There's a nice lake in kotapally, 20 km from vikarabad where you can go for kayaking, it's worth visiting.
Another place I heard but not visited is source place of musi river.
There's only one good accommodation, Haritha Resort, need to book online. Hotel location is very good, food is good, service and infrastructure is bad except swimming pool, but it's pocket friendly.
Other option is, harivillu resort, very new infrastructure on the top of a hill, next to snake hill, 3-4km from vikarabad. They provide camping as well as valley facing small cottages. Camping would cost around 1800/ per person including food and activities like cycling, trekking to snake hill and indoor games. Little bit issue with fresh room and toilet.
I did not stay at their cottages but owner show us the cottages and facilities, I like them. You can have a view of valley and hills just lying on the bed or sitting in the sofa. It's on the range of 3-4k per night, double accommodation.
To book, search harivillu resort in Google or you can also book through 'penguin camping' in vikarabad.
Hope these information would help.
