Bad weather day! Probably one of the few things to keep a 6yr old engaged whilst also being educational and during a peak holiday period it was closed. To be fair I think it’s closed permanently - it’s website however should have clearly reflected this...More

Dropped in here after Drivers Creek on 2nd January ( a bank holiday in New Zealand right?)........ The place was closed. We are assuming that if it's not open on one of the busiest days of the year it must no longer be operating.

this looked like a great idea at the time. Driving past the sign it sounded like a little bit of local history, and keen to see the local history of the old gold mining town, we drove up the side road to the location. Thought...More

We were very keen to visit and walked up from Coromandel town on a hot day. in hindsight it would have been prudent to drive up. However, when we got to the battery it was closed, we were just about to turn and go when...More

We had heard about it but never visited and now we know what we have missed out of. We were taken on an educational, interesting and wonderful verbal voyage about gold, earthquakes, tsmaumais, nature and the history of the Coromandel Peninsula. Ashley very obviously loves...More

This was an interesting trip great to see the old water wheel working. We had the tour but felt it was too drawn out and too much commentary on the tour guides own interests . We were passing through the town with not a lot...More

The, still working, old water wheel is a bit of a novelty. Didn't stay for the guided tour. Might be interesting for those with a bit of an interest in the history of chasing gold.
