Description:

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park....

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

Great place to visit for young and old!

We had a blast here, the interactive attractions are so much fun, combining humour with science and physics, really good for kids and adults.

We very rarely get time off and decided to check this out on a drive around the Coromandel Peninsula, this was late in January, it was hot so thought we'd check it out and return on a day we didn't have our small dog with us. Were pleasantly surprised to find they allowed dogs on leash, so in we went.... More

Located just a few kms from Coromandel on Hwy 309 which is paved most of the way to this place. Whimsical fun with all sorts of water power and solar power devices. You will have fun and you will get wet. A great place to spend a few hours on a nice day. There are picnic areas if you choose... More

My wife went here during a one day stay at Coromandel. The water features are interesting but would be a lot better if you had children with you and were prepared to get wet. There are some panels around the site with very interesting quotes and sayings.

This wedding was held outside by the stream. What an awesome setting! The reception was held in the cafe and went really smoothly. The walk around the compound was easy even with a sore knee as there were plenty of places to sit. The quirky water works all around the property make it interesting for both adults and children.

A brilliant way to spend time with fun-loving family or friends in a rare environment where you can actually take risks. Great humour and random information throughout. Quirky equipment and lots of chances for water fights make this a great outing for the non-PC population

I went here with a friend in 2000 and had a great time! Took my husband here on our trip to the Coromandel and loved it even more. Fun with kids but even fun without them!

It really is a quirky little park; and there's a lot of small fun stuff to do. We didn't go there with a lot of expectation; but it was well worth the couple of hours that we spent there. There's a lot of creativity out there.
