About
In a typical old farmhouse, we produce functional pottery, tiles and prints with local themes such as olives, lemons and sardines. Although using traditional craft techniques, the design of the work is fresh and contemporary. The studio shop is open to the public all year round.

A fantastic authentic place to buy some outstanding art. Ian (the artist and owner) is very approachable and extremely friendly. He runs the artisanal workshop/studio designing the tiles just opposite the display area. The parking is behind the showroom (and plenty of it). You can pick up some unique handmade pieces of art here . Well worth the detour of the N125. Come here if you are looking for some unique ceramic tile art.

Located a few Kilometers away from the Porches Pottery, just behind a roundabout , the Pequena Olaria, is a much smaller place, and therefore, you will find not as many choice.
However, the pieces of pottery are really of top quality, and tge designs are absolutely wonderful.
Prices are thus much higher than at the Porches pottery. Count 30 euros for a simple, but fabulous mug.
Difficult to park outside.

Thanks for the kind review. You make a fair point about prices being higher, but unfortunately, they have to be when I have a limited production

Loved the pottery especially as it was different than all the traditional Portuguese pottery. Beautiful designs and very heavy pieces. We bought 2 but would have loved more.... Quite pricey and unfortunately Ian does not ship,.....

Thanks for the generous review.......and for buying two pieces! Regarding shipping.........I have just started working with a company who collect/pack and ship work for me, so I can now arrange transport for people who want to buy something but have restrictions on what they can carry.

Such a pleasure to visit this beautiful pottery. Just take your time, look ahead, look down, look high. Don't miss anything. Tiles, prints, pots all so lovely. Contemporary but will look stunning in any Algarve home.
The owner and artist is so welcoming and happy to just let you absorb all there is on display.
A unique place.....oh...and you really must make a purchase and then visit again to add to your collection.
Don't miss it. You won't find another pottery like it anywhere.

Get away from the tourist area and come here! One km west of the small city of Porches. Very good products at a reasonable price. Also a nice small patio with a bar. Nice people!

Thanks for your positive review......but I think you may be confusing us with Porches Pottery, given your description and directions. We are smaller, nearer the village and unfortunately don't have a bar.

I make sure I visit this pottery each time I stay at my sisters apartment in Armacao da Pera. It's very different from the usual Portuguese pottery you see along the road side or in tourist shops. The owner and designer is a Scotsman, Ian who has been living in Portugal for some years. He uses his watercolour paintings in some of his pottery designs and in others there is a more abstract approach. Each piece is individual in both shape, colour, glaze and decoration and is thus unique. Some of the more substantial pieces are considered spends but I feel well worth it and certainly worth a visit.
