This is the entrance to the old town, and the last possibility of parking the car (not for free, though).

Just another gate leading into a "city". Noto is small but has it all.
Some good eateries and loely ceremics.

What an impressive archway to the entrance of the beautiful city of Noto. In excellent condition. Not too far from here we visited a shop where we sampled a few local delicacies. Noto is well worth a visit

As it is at one end of the Corso Vittorio Emanuele III and as most of the main attractions of Notto are located along this avenue, you'll probably, if not certainly, pass by this gate.
And whichever end of this avenue you'll start, you'll reach it since I believe you'll walk the avenue all the way.
You'll also probably stop for a minute, admire it, take one or two pictures and then go on.
By the way, make sure to stop at Caffe Sicilia and have there one of their famous special cakes or a granita.
You will avoid the embarrassment back home, when asked if you've been there to answer that you've missed it..
All the way on this avenue you'll see and maybe stop at the Cathedral, Palazzo Nicolaci, Chiesa Santa Chiara, Palazzo Ducezio, Chiesa San Domenico or Convento San Francesco d'Assisi all'Immacolata.
So many things to do and see on Corso Vittorio Emanuele III, and it starts right here, at L’Arco di Trionfo, Porta Reale o Ferdinandea

It is always lovely to see these gates and imagine walking through them back in time. Interesting to see and enjoy the surroundings as this is the entrance to the beginning of the old center of town.

Were walking towards our parking space when we found this, realy impressive with the long road in the background.
The thing that realy cought our atention, was the statue of the dog on the monument - a pelican, a tower and a dog - which looked like a kind of hound.
After much looking and thinking, we asked one of the locals if it is a "levrieri"- greyhound. No, it is a Cirneco, a Sicilyan breed of hound, used to hunt small game.
Great sight, with a interesting story, worth a look or two.

As part of our Sicilian tour included a three night stay at this excellent small hotel in Noto. Excellent room with breakfast and helpful friendly staff.

At one end of Via Vittorio Emanuele, this stunning arch was built in 1938. On the top you will see a dog, a tower and a pelican symbolising loyalty, strength and sacrifice showing Noto's allegiance to the Bourbon monarchy of that time. Worth a look as it is a busy area with lots of shops and cafes nearby.
