The website (and google) said that it is open.
Well - it wasn't when we showed up.
I hope at least when the tourist season starts they open it. (Or correct their website.) It is the main attraction in Otranto. What a shame.
If this happened to you, too, there is a website, where you can see the inside. Unfortunately tripadvisor does not allow me to publish this here.

During our visit of Otranto, we also visited this little church. Not that easy to find as it is a relative small church, in them midst of houses etc. Luckily the church was open for visit and although the exterior is quite sober, the interior is full of beautiful Fresco's. Really great to so and to understand the age of the Fresco's. Worth a visit when you are over in this nice place.

We didn’t manage to find this open on our last visit so a must this time. I can only say that it is wonderful with frescos full of colour and detail.

This is a real gem tucked away in a corner. The frescoes are superb, and it is a real privilege to be able to see them. Be sure to leave a donation to help preserve this fantastic monument.

It is not just a small and excellent example of a byzantine church, more a book to read.It is the first basilica of Otranto, dated 968. The remaining fresco's is a story apart. There are not only gGeek inscriptions, but I discovered also Arabian text. It shows that different cultures met each other peacefully.
The guide gave an. superb explanation of all the details of the fresco's and about the church.

We saw this on a Road Scholar tour where there had been a visit set up in advance.
It was much different than the Cathedral and kind of hidden away .

A very small church but brimming with Byzantine and Greek history. Some of the frescos are really old, much like the Orthodox rock churches in Cappadocia. Over the centuries gently subsumed into the Catholic rite.

This is open, no longer ‘temporarily closed’, and is worth seeing for the authentic old painted walls. Open today from 4.30 pm, and possibly also open during some of the morning.

This is a small chaple unimposing from the outside. It's all about the frescos on the walls of such age and colour depicting many topics including the patron saint of Dentistry. Dont miss it.

This church is absolutely charming. It’s like stepping back in time! During a 16 day tour of Puglia, we saw a LOT of churches, and I must admit, I was fed up of seeing them in the end, but this is one church I’m so glad I saw - it’s not to be missed. It’s not big at all. In fact, it’s very small. It’s quaint. It’s a little gem. It still has a very medieval feel to it. The paintings on the wall are quite something. It’s very special. I’d come back here again.
