Right at the front door you face a galery where they have important priests bodies decomposing, standing up on a showcase, side by side. They are there for centuries and not only the body conditions, clothes and acessories impress by its conditions. Impactual, there is no way you ser this and feel nothing. Inside also there a importante tomb at the botton of the altar together with a saint, also a Strong image to see. Rare and different place to visit.

This Romanesque Crypt, Museum and Archaeological site was closed much to my disappointment. It was one of the treasured unique places I had expected to see. I missed the sights including the crypt of the preserved, the tomb, the altar, artifacts, stone work and macabre depictions amongst other things. This was a big miss for me because of the uniqueness of it all.

As the other reviewers, this is a must next to the Cathedral and extremely interesting. I would have loved to have spoken to a guide or done a bit more research before I went there. It is certainly like no other Church I have been to, just stay out of the small room on the left if you want to avoid the mummified priests!

Located on a small narrow street next to a large cathedral, this church attracts attention through it being cramped between other buildings. But if you look closely, there are also some skeletons on the entrance door, which hint to something - it's a church of the purgatory.
The inside is just like any nice, old church, except for one thing - there is a smaller, adjoining room to the big hall, which contains some mummies (standing!) of people from centuries ago. There was even a smaller body, which we though to be a doll, as it did not look like a human at all, but other people here say it is indeed a mummified child.
It is definitely a macabre place, but it's something unique really and I advise you not to miss it.

Never in my ABC (another bloody church) of visiting sacred places on holidays have I ever come across a church like this. Oh my! Be prepared to be surprised and shocked. London Dungeon eat your heart out.

Very strange church - like nothing you will have ever seen before with decomposing priests’ bodies standing in a showcase. The, side by side. They have been in that position for centuries ! Really worth the visit

This small church majors on Momento Mori, having skeletons depicted in the doors, ceilings, walls and floors. For good measure there are mummies in white linen robes (? shrouds) with little black capes with red flames embroidered along the hems. Even the street takes part in the macabre fest, being Via Purgatorio!

Just 50 meters from the cathedral, this small baroque church is full of curiosities... the Purgatory is represented by skulls and bones in the facade, but inside there are even stranger things as 7 mummies from the XVII and XVIII centuries! The man who guard the church explained us the whole story of the church, the mummies and the iconography...
