This was a quick stop on our drive from Dresden to Berlin. We ended up parking in a small gravel lot south of the lake so that we could enjoy the views of the castle reflecting on the water while it was silhouetted against a deep blue sky and the dark green forest behind it. Walking up had the advantage of us coming across several families of ducks and swans and we spent some time enkoying the antics of the new hatchlings. We only walked around the outside of the castle, having already toured several castles while in Germany, but these views are what made the stop worthwhile. We enjoyed watching the various birds swoop and dive around the lake while also appreciating the architecture around us.

Impressive restauration on the outside and ever better on the inside. At first glance you just see som old furniture, pictures, porcelain and wallpaper but with the histo-pads it all comes alive and gives you the experience of actually being there in 1723. You must get the histo-pads when you buy the tickets and it will allow you to discover all the rooms and items without a guide.

We visited by car on the way to Dresden. The town of Radeburg is a gorgeous little town with the lake and castle in its centre. We went in winter and didn't go inside as the queues of locals were spanning all the way across half the bridge to see the winter exhibit of a classic German Grimms fairytale movie filmed here. There was a cute Xmas market on front of the castle gates too. The building is stunning from all sides, the location is amazing and the views very pretty. It is a lovely place. I wished we could have looked inside. Circumventing the castle, you can peek inside to see the works of the stonemason reconstructions. Well worth it. Across the bride, you can take horse carriage rides of varying lengths. There was a long queue too and there is a great restaurant straight across the bridge.

Viewed from across the lake it is impressive but up close it was one of the shabbier palaces I’ve seen. No manicured gardens or grounds. Just a big hunting lodge on the island in the lake.

This castle is really a jewel.
It has a ton of state room. You can rent tablets, that give you extra information and little games, perfect for adults ... and teens/kids, in different languages.
Also this makes it possible to visit the castle at your own pace, instead of a rushed guided tour.

Saxony is a land of stunning castles, palaces and gardens and Schloss Moritzburg is - in my opinion - in the top five. The castle is only 18 km north of Dresden so spare some time for your visit there!

Beautiful palace! We went by car and the parking was around 3 euro for 2 hours but we did not need that much time because we did not go inside the castle. The best pictures can be taken however from outside of the island where the castle is located because then you can have the water on the photo too. My last photo was taken from the parking lot a bit further away from the castle. Nice activity on a sunny day. But don't expect much, I think one hour is okay.

Beautiful castle and absolutely amazing park! Loved the place - staff is nice and friendly if you have any questions. Certainly worth a visit - however: no signs or descriptions inside the castle in English. So if you don’t speak some kind of German you will loose a lot of the history - even though you have the histopad

Castle looked great from the outside, but the inside was limited to a set of scenes and production processes for the 1973 GDR/Czechoslovak production of Cinderella (3 Hazelnuts). Hmmmm.....

It is very nice castle, very famous for a czech-german fairy tail. There is also a presentation dedicated to this fairy tail.
There is a lake around the castle, but in December there was no water.
