Despite the still cold temperatures at this year's start of Spring many people used the ferry to visit both islands in Chiemsee. Interior is well heated. Prices are reasonable. Views of the lake, islands and surrounding landscapes from the boat are great. We took the trip to Herrenchiemsee (approx. 15 min from Prien) and Frauenchiemsee (approx. 10 min from Herrenchiemsee).... More

When you're at the Chiemsee, and your intention is to visit King Ludwig II's Herrenchiemsee castle, there is only one way you're going to get there, and that's by boat. Unless you have your own boat, then you will have to take the ferry from this company. Luckily they do an excellent job at ferrying people to the two main... More

Took is trip on a sunny summer's day, excellent ride, also visited the island with the castle, which was excellent. As later n in the afternoon there are not that many boats back, check return trip times, and don't go to late to give yourself ample time for the visit... Don't miss out on this experience!

Nice boat trip first to Herreninsel where Ludvik II had his copy of Versailles castle, fountain and gardens. Than 10 min to next island Fraueninsel followed by a stop at Gstadt on mainland and a trip back to Pier. Would be usefull to get any info about the destination on the boat.

Nice, very nice. If in Munich take the A8 as well as driving from Salzburg and stop at this nice lake. Bernau/Felden or Prien/Stock are nice starting points before getting to Ludwig's Palace. However, it lacks english, but in the Palace there are guided english tours.

The Boats serve a range of Islands and Destinations around Chiemsee. Great Service but lacking direction for English Travellers. Really recommend the trip to the Islands but be cautious in jumping onto the first boat that arrives. Study the limited signage and ask for help. If you get through this challenge a wonderful day awaits.

The boat trip over the Chiemsee is really nice, boats will get a bit crowded, and make sure you check leaving times, as they only go like every half hour or so... On the way back from the Herrninsel they're even less regular... so check the times, and avoid standing in the queue on the dock for like half an... More

Peaceful and calm lakeside scenery, though there are plenty of tourists taking the boat trip... Good to find there is a traditional steam train running as a sightseeing trip which could enhance its sustainable tourism, to some extent... Nice to explore the sustainability in each place of the world meanwhile developing its tourism

This is obviously a busy place but it is worth it....there are many different ferries running and not all go to the same places so beware....it is worth getting the full lake tour where you can get off at different stops to explore but this only works if you have the times planned correctly so it is worth studying the... Make a full day visit the Islands (Fraueninsel and Herreninsel) also the villages around the lake, but study the timetable first and make sure you are on the correct boat. We felt that it was a pity that the fountains in the Palace gardens were not operational all the time.
