We visited here on a tour from our River Cruise. We had been to visit the very special Nativity Church, which had a stunning vaulted interior of unique frescoes and vey plain exterior. A short walk later found us at the 17th century house. It was interesting enough, but would have been nothing without the earlier visit to the church.

A visit to Arbanasi is seemingly a routine tour option for Viking, with whom we had sailed, and this house and the nearby absolutely amazing church represent the seemingly two tourism-centric sites to visit.

As other reviewers have described, this two level home allows one to get a feel for what an animal fat merchant's home would have been like centuries ago. The rooms are sparely furnished in relation to what we westerners are used to, and as such, hardly overwhelmingly impressive. However, since this represented our first visit to anything Bulgarian, was worth our time to see.

Having visited so many opulent mansions and castles in western Europe, we would not have counted this visit as being our most memorable, by any means, but again, appreciated being provided a chance to see what life was like here years ago.

It's a house that has been decorated to a certain time. You can get a guided docent tour. Maybe I was tired from the bus ride, but I did not find it very interesting.

Interesting to see how a well-to-do merchant lived. And this was definitely a wealthy family since they had an indoor kitchen, indoor toilet, and ceramic fire places.

And also interesting to see horizontal strips of wood built into the stone walls to allow for expansion/contraction, as well as shifting of the stones due to frequent earthquakes.

Definitely need a guide to explain the details, otherwise we'd have missed so much.

This is a Balkan House that offers excellent insight showing life from a particular period of history in this part of Bulgaria.

We visited the Konstantsalieva House on a Viking River Cruise excursion - this merchant house depicts Bulgarian culture and history through the many rooms, furniture & decorations.

This an interesting museum as it shows how wealthy merchants, not average people, lived in the 17th century. It is decorated with the furnishing times. This visit was part of a Vantage River Cruise package.

This was a fine old house and is worth a visit. Very well restored and a good example of how wealthy people of the day lived.

This was a very good place to visit. It had lots of rooms that have be decorated from the past, lots of this were donated by locals over time.
The heating was something new and the kitchen was also very good.
Take the time. The surrounding gardens as very peaceful.
