I visited with my sister in mid-September, we booked a special package directly on their website which included one-day admission to the water park, one-day admission to the theme park (including all you can ride pass), free access to the Onsen, free access to the flower garden, and a one night stay including breakfast and dinner. It was only about USD$350 (for two people!). Never going back to Disney again with this much fun for the price!
We took a direct 45min bus from Oasis 21 in Nagoya which cost 3000yen per person for one way. They have direct buses from Nagoya station too for the same price but we spent a night in Nagoya and it was closer to our hotel. It was a very crowded Sunday so we decided visit the waterpark that day. We arrived at about 9am to the park, and got on another free shuttle to our hotel (Nagashima Resort). It was too early to check in but we were able to pick up our tickets to the park and drop off our luggage. There are signs that state you must wear street clothes if you're not in the waterpark, and there are signs that state no one with tattoos are allowed. We obeyed the first sign but it's not like I could carve off my tattoo so I made sure my suit covered it up as much as possible. I saw other people with tattoos but as long as it's not Yakuza-like, I don't think the staff cared. Or if you have Yakuza-like tattoos people wore bandaids and shirts and they were admitted just fine.
The Waterpark was packed! Nearly every slide had a 45 min wait or more, but we figured as much going on a Sunday. The slides were incredibly dangerous-looking, probably because lawsuits aren't as common in Japan, but that just made them all the more fun! If you have extra money, they have fast-passes you can buy to skip the line for 1000yen each (each one is good for one person to skip the line once). If you want to go on slides, they require you to put EVERYTHING in your locker, even your phone. I spent 10min arguing with a staff member that it's in a waterproof case, it's going to be fine, but Japanese always just follow the rules without exception so you're not going to win that argument. The lockers cost 400yen for a small one and you can get in and out of it as many times as you want. They have a great selection of food from ramen, to yakisoba, to curry, and loco moco and it's all reasonably priced, the most expensive thing was probably 1400yen. Did I mention the draft beer 500ml is only 600yen? Did I mention how much faster you seem to go on the rides when you're a bit drunk? Don't even have to worry about drowning, there were about 3 handsome lifeguards for each pool waiting to save your drunk butt. Bathrooms for the waterpark and the theme park were so clean that they could only exist in Japan. Take note that the park is next to the ocean and it will get cool fast around 4pm so we headed back to the hotel then.
The hotel was great, we enjoyed the onsen (hot springs, see my review on Yuami no Shima) after a hearty dinner of crab legs and traditional Japanese cuisine. Our bags were waiting for us in the room, no tip needed. Later we went to the outlets next door until they closed (see my review on Jazz Dream outlets). Nagashima Resort had clean rooms which were unexpectedly spacious. They provide you with Yukata pajamas so you can leave your PJ's at home. The next morning we ate a hearty hot breakfast and took the free shuttle to the flower gardens (see my review on Nabana no Sato) and took the free shuttle back to experience the theme park. The hotel offered to hold our luggage until we left (which ended up being 7pm).
For a Monday, the Theme Park was pretty full. The theme park was only open until 5pm so we tried to pack as many rides as possible in the short time frame. For people who only want to visit a short time, you can also buy tickets for each ride, but all you can ride pass paid for itself after four rides on the main roller coasters. The main roller coasters were all open, but perhaps since it was a Monday, many of the rides were not operating including the go-carts and the several stories tall swinging ride. This unfortunately made the wait for the main roller coasters quite long (we waited 90min to get on the Steel Dragon, it was quite awful). Again, if you have money you can pay for the priority pass for 1000yen that lets you skip the line (something we should have done for the Steel Dragon). There were many tamer rides which could be enjoyed by the whole family, but our favorites were the Steel Dragon (world's longest coaster) and the Acrobat (lying down coaster). We went on the Arashi alot because the line was short but it wasn't that fun (not as scary as it looks). Like the waterpark, there were reasonable prices on food but it was rather hard to locate a water fountain. It kind of forces you to buy water from the vending machine, which was reasonably priced at 130yen but still a bit annoying. As we were leaving, we discovered that the restaurant in the middle of the park had free water, so hopefully this information becomes useful to someone else.
The last bus back to Nagoya left around 8pm, which we were passed out on from all the excitement and beer. Definitely a place you can take your whole family, but it can be enjoyed by an adventurous couple or group of friends.

This place has everything! Shopping (outlet mall), rides (for all ages!), water park and onsen! We spent the entire day here with our 3-year-old.
The park is set out really well. There is a huge area of kids rides (train ride, mini-rollercoasters, carousel etc at least 10 rides!) and then there is a huge playground. The playground is so big that although there were at least 60 kids at the playground, it didn't feel full or busy! We spent hours here with our daughter.
For the "big" kids.....there are multiple rollercoasters, splash/wet rides and "drop" type rides - the Japanese really know how to design rides! BUT the jewel in the crown of Nagashima Spa Land is "the steel dragon" rollercoaster! Not for the faint hearted....it's enormous! But be aware, if it is too windy they do close the rollercoaster due to its extreme height (they did this the day we visited).
Get the unlimited ride pass (about $50 US each) and go on as many rides as you like! Like I said, we spent the entire day here.....even though we initially thought we would only be there for a couple of hours.
Quick and easy to get from Nagoya to Nagashima Spa Land - there is a bus that goes direct from the Meitetsu Bus Centre (next to Nagoya Station). It takes about 40 minutes. The buses depart/return every 15 minutes, so plenty of options! But I suggest getting out there in the morning - more time to enjoy this fantastic theme park!

Nagashima Spaland has it all! Want the quintessential Japanese experience? Head to the Onsen, where you can while away the hours in total sensory relaxation. Want to shop till you drop? There's the Jazz Dream Outlet Park right next door, complete with discount prices on brands you know and love. (Even excellent high-end goods). Seeking some thrills? Experience the wonder that is Spaland, with the Steel Dragon roller coaster - the most awesome roller coaster i've been on.. EVER!
If you're like me, you'll stay for a weekend and do it all!
My friend and I live in Osaka, so we bought some cheap Kintetsu line tickets and took the express trains from Tsuruhashi station (On the Osaka loop line)... all up it took 3 hours to get to Kuwana but it only cost ¥1500 for a one way ticket. The scenery once your out of the city is actually quite nice - just make sure you take a good book.
From Kuwana, there is an express bus to Nagashima Spaland (¥500) and it takes 20 minutes. There is also an express bus from Nagoya station (¥1000) and it takes 40 minutes.
My friend and I went shopping first, and there were some excellent bargains to be had. The outlet mall is quite large, and there is something for everybody. There was even a fire juggler performing in the courtyard. It was outrageously Japanese.
Then, at about 5pm, we headed over to the Onsen. It cost ¥1500 to enter (¥2100, if you arrive earlier in the day), which included unlimited time in the hot springs. My friend and I also booked a massage at the spa and enjoyed some ultimate pampering. The full menu of relaxation services is on the website (In Japanese only, unfortunately).
P.s None of the staff spoke English - so be prepared to pull out your woeful Japanese (like me) or your excellent body gestures)
We stayed at a hotel in Nagoya, but if you can afford it - stay at one of the hotels in Nagashima itself - saves a lot of money and time travelling between Kuwana/Nagoya and Spaland itself.
The next day was dedicated to Spaland. I'm such a big kid and I LOVE amusement parks. This one was pretty awesome. We went on the Steel Dragon twice as it was so good! The rides are a bit old, but the day was full of fun, and the shop is full of excellent souvenirs.
An unlimited rides/entry pass costs ¥4100 - otherwise you can pay ¥1500 to enter and pay for each one separately. Be warned, the good rides can be as expensive as ¥1000 each.
All in all, it was the perfect weekend incorporating EVERYTHING I love to do on a holiday. Shop, Relax and go on Crazy Rides.

Visited Nagashima Spaland on a weekday during winter. Opening hours are generally shorter i.e. 10am to 5pm. There are not many people unlike Disney or Universal Studios, so you do not need to queue for rides. If you like & dare to take the thrill rides, go for one day pass, which cost 4500yen. There are many different types of rides to cater for small children & adults. Foods stalls inside Nagashima Spaland is considered reasonable as compared to other theme parks. No regrets visited this fun place.

As a theme park and rollercoaster fan I was keen to visit Nagashima Spa Land and it didn't disappoint. My favourite ride was Acrobat, a B&M flying coaster which is an exhilarating yet smooth ride. Next to the ride entrance is a vending machine where you can buy a pass to skip most of the line, which I definitely recommend if like me you're only likely to visit the park once. Also brilliant is Steel Dragon 2000, once the world's tallest coaster (though no more) but still the world's longest.
I've been to Fuji Q Highland as well, and I'd say that while Fuji Q edges it on bigger rides (with four world-class coasters in Takabisha, Eejanaika, Dodonpa & Fujiyama), I found Nagashima to be a more 'rounded' park with a greater variety of rides.
I took the direct bus from the Meitetsu Bus Centre next to Nagoya Station - tickets are available at the ticket shop on the third floor where I was also given return bus times without needing to ask. The journey takes about 45 minutes and Nagashima Spa Land is the obvious last stop. I left the park at closing time and the first bus back was full, meaning I had to wait about 30 minutes for the next bus - annoying but not a problem.
On the way back, I got off at Nabana no Sato to see the winter illuminations, which I also recommend.
Park maps are available in English. Next to Acrobat and Steel Dragon 2000 were signs clearly displaying a time, but as they weren't translated I had no clue what they meant. Turns out that both rides close for an hour around lunchtime, I think for inspections, with a different closure period for each ride.

If you love extreme rides and hate long lines, this is the perfect place for you. The park is well maintained and very relaxing because there are no big crowds or long lines to stress you. I think if they rename this place as Universal Studios Nagashima, people will be drawn here by the thousands. The park is better than USJ except that they do not have much indoor attractions like 4D or 5D rides.

So glad we made the effort to come here. Fantastic value and great rides! Bought a combined bus/park ticket at the Meitetsu Bus Centre next to Nagoya Station. (3rd floor is ticket office). Tickets costs 6000 yen which is return bus and unlimited entry to the park. Caught the bus about 8.20am and arrived around 9.00ish for 9.30 opening. Bus stops at Nagashima Onsen entrance to park. Best thing about it - hardly anyone there compared to Disney in Tokyo which we visited ona previous visit. Longest wait for a ride was 15 minutes max. The rides are awesome. Steel Dragon, the large steel rollercoaster amazing as are all the other rides. Plenty of thrill seeking rides and also smaller ones for younger children. We seemed to be the only Western tourists there and everyone was very helpful and friendly. Had a nice lunch in one of the reastaurants which was priced well compared to some theme parks. Think the park was quiet as low season. The waterpark looked great so I can imagine in summer it gets really busy. Finished off by visiting the onsen at the end. Wonderful! Large baths in outdoor setting and excellent way to finish off all the walking round you have done by soaking in the pools. Only 700 yen for entry. Staff very helpful considering no English spoken so they made a real effort to show us where to go etc. Would recommend this as a great day out if you are in the Nagoya area.

After the opening of HKUGEI on March 28, 2019, I finally went to Nagashima Spaland to try the first Rocky Mountain Construction coaster in Asia. It was overwhelming. With the the high speed as if propelled by the jet engine, and the endless unforeseen elements, the ride experience was great. It was a bit tamer than Steal Vengeance in Ceder Point in Ohio, it was more thighs friendly. Highly recommend to experience it!

I was there to find out about the roller coasters, in the end we found lots of attractions and good food. We stayed from early morning to close time, it was wonderful for the kids to enjoy the attractions without the queues. The theme parks are all ours literally. The kids even ride Bob Sled for almost 10 times .. it is something that we could not find anywhere else in the world .. I just wished that the theme park can be a bit more crowded so we can feel lively and enjoyable.

When getting from Nagoya Station to Nagashima Spa Land it looks like we can either take the train then bus, or direct bus. The bus would certainly be easier but if we have a JR pass, I know the train would be covered. My question is, is the Meitetsu bus covered by the JR Pass? If not, for the four of us it works out to be over $100 (Aud) in bus fares so it's quite a consideration. Thanks

I am not sure but this is more of summer vacation place as it is known for awesome pool area. So, I would expect limited crowd but there will be queue for popular rides.
