I recommended to take the cable car to the park. It was not expensive and good for sight-seeing. It is optional to take car or just casually walk down-hill.

the hilltop offers panoramic views of Onomichi and is particularly splendid during Sakura as cherry trees line the slope.

Took the rope way up the mountain. 320yen for 1 way and 500 for return. Will recommend to take the rope way up and walk the steps down as there are many nice temples along the way. A word of caution, the steps maybe abit...More

This ropeway / cable car affords a different perspective to the town below either ascending or descending. Reasonably priced depending on the currency rate. Note that it goes every 15 minutes from 9.00am to 5.15pm.

this is the only show in town but fun ... closes at 5:30 so make sure you're up by then (and finished if you want to go down too)

I visited here around 7:00 a.m. but the ropeway wasn't running yet.It starts at 9:00 a.m.But you don't have to worry so much because the way to the Senkoji park is not so far than you imagine .If not running just walk up!

Great walk up here, we had fun walking up town between the temples and alleys. The view from here is nice, you can see the islands around, bridge and city. Good facilities (WiFi and toilets) and a small restaurant that serves coffee. Nice viewing platform.

A very quick gondola up Mt. Senkoji with panoramic view of Onomichi and Setoda Island. Beautiful, easy and fast.

Well, just as queuing to take a photo with something, or queueing to get into a train, we waited 40minutes to get into the tram. It was 12:30pm then. When we got up, there's the usual crawl to get down. Though when we left at...More

It's a good mode of transportation, especially if you don't want to walk. I wouldn't make a trip out of it or anything though.
