For me, Gokarna main beach is the best beach in Gokarna. The north part of the beach is very clean and has white sand. Take any access to the beach after the bus stand and you will reach less crowded portion of beach. There are many clean and hygienic shacks located here. The food served in most of the shacks is tasty. Most of them also have arrangement to stay overnight. Staying on Gokarna main beach is definitely a memorable experience. Also, this is an alcohol restricted beach. So you will get only beer and hard drinks are not allowed. Also, swimming is not allowed in this beach. Inspite of all this, i still feel this is the best beach in Gokarna.

This is one of the best beach in Gokarna.
There is a small cafe/canteen near this beach which serves best Dosa in town.
The manager is super friendly. amazing hospitality.
This cafe is located just near the beach entrance. If you're facing the sea, cafe/hotel will be on your left. (opposite to ice cream parlour)
Do try their filter coffee and you can also visit this ice cream parlour.

This might be the longest beach in Gokarna and is situated a bit far from the other beaches. It is however closer to the Mahabaleshwar Temple and hence you can see many pilgrims taking bath there before offering their puja. The part directly in front of the temple is extremely crowded and is frequented by pilgrims so it might be little awkward for youngsters (particularly ladies) to bathe here in their swimming costumes or shorts. But you can easily skip the crowd if you go a km or more inside the beach away from the temple. Here crowd is also very less, the shacks are also present and you can just leave your things behind in the shack and go and take a dip in the calm waves. We went to this beach near the evening just before taking the return bus and enjoyed a beautiful pre-sunset. Unfortunately we could not wait till the sunset due to lack of time but I am pretty sure the sunset here would have been awesome. Do try the french cafe called Chez Christophe in the quieter part of the beach. We went there just to get some relief from the scorching sun, and they were kind enough to let us stay as long as we wanted even though we ordered just 3 breezers. We even sat with them and enjoyed the last 10 overs of a cricket match with them.

A small holy town situated on the Western Coast of India, Gokarna is known for it’s untouched beaches and is great for a relaxing holiday. A day or two of sunbathing on the beaches, flat on your stomach, sipping a cooler. If that is your idea of a vacation, or if what you simpl noy need is a break from your hectic schedule of planned visits to sights in and around Karnataka, Gokarna is the place for you. A toned-down version of Goa, we suggest you take your beach hat, some sunscreen and a volleyball for a great time!

Gokarna main beach is just walkable distance from Temple which is one of the main most visited beach of Gokarna. Apart from its natural beauty, this beach holds great religious significance for Hindus as pilgrims often gather here to perform rituals and seek blessings of Lord Mahabaleshwar.
Interest things about Gokarna Beach
1. Gokarna beach is the longest beach among the beaches of Gokarna.
2. The Ganagavalli river meets the sea near the beach.
3. It is mainly visited by the Pilgrims visiting Gokarna for a dip before visiting temple.
4. Gokarna beach is a long open beach and has gained popularity as a famed Surfing and trekking site.

This is a beautiful long beach, dotted infrequently with cafes, and just a short step away from Gokarna town. The beach is amazingly long with beautiful sand, and looks amazing.
I give it four start because there isn't a lot to do here, and very few loungers or shade to use, and the sea is too rough to swim in.
Great for a few hours, but not so much to do here if you want a longer break.
There are sea turtles here, as I saw one washed up on the beach, but I think it was dead, which was quite distressing.

It is the the longest beach in Gokarna. There are a couple of water sports available at the beach like kayaking. The beach is situated very near to the bus stand and famous Mahabaleshwar temple. The place has a lot of food shacks and eateries. I tried Sunset Cafe and Cafe Chez Christophe. Both were really good but I would recommend trying out Chez Christophe for sure.

The main beach of Gokarna is situated near the Mahabaleshwar temple.
Cleanliness wise it is not good. Its famous more among locals than tourists.
The beach is littered with thrash and not a good sight.
No shade in sight except for a few broken benches.

Gokarn : Beautiful blend of holy sacred places and the most amazing, clean beaches in coastal karnataka. Drive down from Goa and experience the difference though two different worlds.
Gokarn, a beautiful small town has Mahabaleshwar temple, Kotiteerth and few holi places with panoramic Gokarn main beach, Om, Half Moon, Paradise like beaches, vibhuti falls and Yana rocks ( covered seprately ). Ample choices of staying actually on beach with plenty options of beach stay , accomodation.
One would three days for a comfortable, leisure trip.

Paradise Beach is best but there are some spots between Om and Paradise that are also nice ~ use caution of the cliffs when camping or hiking there :)

Hi Shibin,
Paradise beach is best for camping in gokarna.
it is little bit far from crowded om beach and you have to trek or take boat to reach there.
Another option is kumta beach which is almost 30km far from gokarna.
