Crowded and restricted
Nov 2021
We had to wear a dhoti / "panche" with bare body to enter the temple. Temple opens at 6.00 AM. At that time early morning we found the temple quite empty and we got a nice darshan. We could touch the main deity in sanctum sanctorum. The inter-connecting passage from this temple to Shri Ganapati temple is very convenient.

Divine Darshan
Feb 2021
We had a very peaceful darshan, I guess due to Covid there were very few devotees.
Men need to wear mund, the doohti, you can get one for Rs 100. Men need to be barechested no shirts allowed, women to wear saree or salwar kameez.
Need to park in the designated parking and take a 5-7 min walk to the temple.

Several shops outside the temple selling lots of spices interested us. The stuff was good.

Dec 2020 • Family
Visited dec 2020. Men need to wear dhoti, shirt to be removed. Queue will be there but 2 lines, one for Dharsan and other for pooja or sankalph, can offer flower , water, milk, as pooja material. Chappel stand there, streets are narrow, u can park vehicle in gokarna main beach side, and walk. restaurant available but not great.

make sure that you have a dhothi to enter here... otherwise you need to purchase one in the front of the temple.

the crown was less as we were there on a weekday... the darshan was over within 15 minutes... do not miss the mahaganapathi temple nearby..

Main athma lingam temple
Mar 2020
As the athmalingam placed down by Vinayagar got stuck in the earth here, ravanan tried his best to pull it out but went vain. The things like the dress on the lingam, punool, headgear and the crown came into ravanan hands and he exclaimed hey!mahabaleswarar bale! Meaning oh lord you are very strong, and thrower those things around which fell in karwar, daneshwar, gunavatheswar and murder war and turned into a lingam asshri shejjeswararlingam,Shri dharnatheswar lingam, gunavatheswar lingam and murdeswarar lingam and now those five all together is pacha athmalingam sthalam, and one attains moshav if they visit all the five temples on the same day.

Temples
Mar 2020
Visiting this temple is easy as its located in Gokarna town. Dressing modestly and in Indian attire is recommended.
Outside the temple many ladies selling flowers are there wherein you can buy something to offer to the deity.
Temple has Shiva Atma Linga, which we can touch and seek blessings.
Various puja/abhishek and seva are available at the temple which can be performed though do beware of the priests who say there no puja option available lesser than 2000INR, its very much available, we just need to check the notice board. Temple is very beautiful constructed in Dravidian architecture.
Do not miss the yummy prasad bhojan near there Amrutanna shed.
