Great despite cancelation! We were canceled due to bad weather, they said in good faith they couldn’t take our money and show a cloudy sky. The guide (forgot his name), was awesome! He spent 45min giving us a run down on the southern sky and answered all the questions. He did NOT have to do that, it was wonderful customer service.

We had a wonderful evening with Sam having a tutorial on Astrophotography. He was so knowledgeable and went through everything from setting up the telescope, attaching the camera, taking shots with an SLR and most importantly the computer processing afterwards. Really fun and enjoyable experience and Sam was amazing. Highly recommend!

Took the 10pm tour just as sun setting. Clear night sky. Sam our guide was excellent, explained in detail what we were looking at and more importantly why ! Saw stars, planets, constellations, satellites and finally about 50 star link satellites passed by all in line !

Just wow! Amazing tour with a brilliant guide Sam and driver Steve. Perfect stargazing weather to see constellations, planets, the Milky way and more! A great setup, with knowledgeable guide that made it easy and fun to learn. Thoughtful touches such as jackets, blankets and chairs for those who feel cold or are unsteady on their feet. Would highly recommend and will be heading along again next time I am in Lake Tekapo!

We booked a Stargazing Tour and it was a wonderful experience. The owner is very knowledgable and explained the meaning of different constellations not just by its western meaning, but also the Maori meaning. Definitely worth the price.

Had an absolutely amazing tour with Silver River Stargazing. Perfectly clear night with incredible views of the stars and Milky Way with the Southern Aurora also showing up in our photos. Maddy was our guide and she was fantastic. Lots of knowledge and very passionate about her work. Nice small group which meant that we all had plenty of time to look through the telescope. Had some great photographs taken which I will treasure forever from the experience. Highly recommended!

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, she said she learned on the job. It was a quarter moon so though it seemed like the sky was just as dark in the north island it was great to learn some about the stars. We also got the opportunity to see the moon, some very bright stars, Milky Way strand, and some shooting stars. Blankets, warm jackets and chairs provided. Recommend going a couple jacket sizes larger to fit your other clothes over. Wear warm socks and shoes. My feet were the only cold thing.

Felt ripped off! for 1 hour sitting outside on seats looking up at stars craning our necks & waiting for turn about to look through the pittiful telescope lense to make out the star clusters was pathetic!! We picked the wrong tour here.. Then to be told you have to wait for up to 3 days before you receive your photos to down load, still haven't received ours.
Dont get sucked in with thete farm tour either never saw animals or stopped at a cheese tasting. It was more like 4 wheel driving in a van over bumpy farm hills & paddocks. Just about car sick.

I absolutely loved my experience here..

The use of the lazer pointer to support the education about the stars was fabulous.

If the chairs provided had been angled a bit...i would have been quite happy lying back and listening to more information about the stars.

It was just a really enjoyable evening.

My one wee recommendation is....it would have been good to incorporate Matariki into the talk.

The crew provide full length down coats to keep you warm and snug.

Highly recommended.
