Absolutely brilliant. Better priced by a long way compared to flashy competitors and by all accounts from locals we spoke to, more time with astronomer actually learning and looking through their telescopes. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Sam the guide was excellent. Can’t praise highly enough.

Great despite cancelation! We were canceled due to bad weather, they said in good faith they couldn’t take our money and show a cloudy sky. The guide (forgot his name), was awesome! He spent 45min giving us a run down on the southern sky and answered all the questions. He did NOT have to do that, it was wonderful customer service.

Very well organized star-gazing tours leaking from Lake Tekapo. Good telescopes, engaging and informative guides. Bus ride to dark skies location only takes 15 minutes. Big plus. Everyone who wants one gets a 3/4 length puffy jacket to help stay warm. And the stars are amazing.

We are very disappointed! We booked two nights in Lake Tekapo and booked our star gazing tour two weeks in advance. The original date was canceled due to cloud cover (okay, no control over that) We rebooked for the next night. Then that night was also cancelled but I don’t know why. The forecast was for rain but it’s turned out to be a beautiful clear night sky. Cancelled at 9:50 for an 11 pm tour. Stars we’re already starting to appear. I suspect that there were just not enough people booked to make it worth their while. This was to be the highlight of our trip to Lake Tekapo.

Felt ripped off! for 1 hour sitting outside on seats looking up at stars craning our necks & waiting for turn about to look through the pittiful telescope lense to make out the star clusters was pathetic!! We picked the wrong tour here.. Then to be told you have to wait for up to 3 days before you receive your photos to down load, still haven't received ours.
Dont get sucked in with thete farm tour either never saw animals or stopped at a cheese tasting. It was more like 4 wheel driving in a van over bumpy farm hills & paddocks. Just about car sick.

We drove all the way from Christchurch to attend it. Everything was okay, but our guide Megan didn’t do a good job with taking pictures. One of the person in the group has accidentally got the other persons face covered with her arm. That should have been picked up by Megan, our tour guide. We got the pictures today for Monday 29th night and it appears tour guide just took the photo for the sake of taking it and rushed it without double checking it. It has ruined a beautiful family photo and once in a lifetime trip because my parents came from overseas. Strongly suggest checking the photos after they get taken, because the tour guide won’t care.

This was the highlight of our trip around South Island. We were in a small group of seven and Joseph was a great guide - knowledgeable and entertaining. A total eye-opener of what is out there in our skies and what can be seen, both by the naked eye and through the telescope. The whole experience has sparked an interest and we now want to get a telescope and continue the experience...

We’re so glad we booked this tour, it was an amazing experience. We saw so many stars! Our tour guide, Cody, was very knowledgeable and explained things really well. We learned so much! It was so beautiful. The big jackets they gave helped ward off the cold - we thought we had dressed warmly enough, but we took the jackets anyway, and they definitely helped. Although the moon was quite bright on the night we went (a few days past the full moon), moonrise only occurred towards the end of our tour, so it didn’t really affect what we could see. Cody did switch things around a bit and took the photos before finishing telling us about the constellations, so the moon wouldn’t get in the way.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, she said she learned on the job. It was a quarter moon so though it seemed like the sky was just as dark in the north island it was great to learn some about the stars. We also got the opportunity to see the moon, some very bright stars, Milky Way strand, and some shooting stars. Blankets, warm jackets and chairs provided. Recommend going a couple jacket sizes larger to fit your other clothes over. Wear warm socks and shoes. My feet were the only cold thing.
