It is a nice place, although crowed most of the time and people disturbing the water. Should be less visitors

And it probably is... but we could not check it. We planned to stay for 2 nights to enjoy this natural wonder, but... in internet (no matter if in English nor in Portuguese) there is no coherent information of the days when you can go there. When we arrived we missed last setting off for 2 hours before... 5 days break. Our flight could not wait, so we spent only one night in our hotel and we continued to Porto de Galinhas where we had more luck.

The reefs of Maragogi that are open to visitation, in the low tide, offer one of the best snorkeling experiences on the Brazilian northeast. That is so because that are still some large fish. Just run away from the crows and you will be in to observe octopus preying upon some big shellfish and some large parrot fish.

Although the area appears quite special the hordes of people there are taking a serious toll on the area. There are only a small number of fish (presumably either scared away by all the people or killed from loss of habitat) and those that do appear only do so from being illegally fed by the so called guides and photographers.

It is too busy to be beautiful and unfortunately slowly getting destroyed

Natural pools among coral reefs, where you can walk. Bring your own snorkel+mask and make sure you book the visit when the tide is below 0,8m, so you can enjoy a lot more. It´s not great barrier reef, but you will see lots of life.

Unfortunetely, when I went there was a cloudy day...
But the water is very clean. There are some fishes to see while you are diving.

You have to go during the low tide.

Went here back in December 2012 with family. There's pretty big area for diving, but you do need to be careful with the reef and sealife living there, so you don't get accidentally hurting your feet.

It can be a bit crowded, so you'll need a bit of patience to be able to enjoy. I'd say that the initial minutes people are hyped, so it can be harder to get a good spot for diving, but after a while the hype lowers a little bit, people start settling down a bit more, then you have more chances of exploring in peace.

Went there with a tour arranged by the hotel - Salinas - and it took the whole morning. The area is absolutely beautiful, plenty of opportunities for nice shots, and the diving a great experience for sure, mainly for kids, they'll love it.

Definitely spend some time in there, just make sure to bring some goggles - not sure all of the tours will provide those.
