Our primary purpose of travelling to Carnforth was to start a walk along the canal. We thought we would take a quick look at the heritage centre and then be on our way. The place was so fascinating that we spent quite a long time there. A showing of the film 'Brief encounter' was included in the exhibition, along with... More

Great centre with interesting railway/Brief Encounter exhibits. Free, but worth the £1/head they very politely ask for to keep the centre going and so worth it. My husband had turned his nose up at going but I insisted and he said I was right! He enjoyed the visit! Nice cafe for lunch and cake, so good that when we were... More

I recently went to visit the museum with my assistance dog. Immediately upon entering a staff member approached my dog and began speaking to her. She has patches on her saying she is a working dog and to leave her alone. We tried to walk past him, left the entrance, and entered a room on the right. The staff member... More

Thank you for drawing my attention to this most unfortunate incident - it would be helpful if you could let me know the date and time of your visit to the Centre. Your comments have been circulated to all of our Volunteers and I am confident that similar incidents will not happen in the future. More

We visited on a Sunday, when the visitor centre is open 10am to 4pm. From the car park (£3 for 4 hours), you currently walk via the underground bypass and come up under the famous Joyce clock. The visitor centre had a little shop with some unique items and there was a small cinema area showing 'Brief Encounter', with some... More

Enjoy going here regularly when I am up in Carnforth. Tea and toast if getting the train somewhere, afternoon tea if on a walk, cheeky drink in the Micro Brewery. For new visitors there is a museum and you can sit in the little cinema and watch Brief Encounter which has scenes from the station in it. Also a grand... More

The station was an important one in the development of railways in the UK and while it isn't so important in that sense now it does evoke a great sense of history. Most of which is centred on the movie Brief Encounters which shows on a loop behind the well appointed shop. An essential visit to the area.

The volunteers have done a wonderful job of bringing to life steam nostalgia wrapped up in the classic film"Brief Encounter" with Trevor Howard ,Celia Johnson and that old favourite Stanley Holloway.

We were on a tour of local memories for my father in law and he insisted we visit Carnforth Railway Station. What a lovely treat! Beautifully laid out to make the most of the links to Brief Encounter (which we all want to watch through now). Really recommend the cheesy chips in the cafe!! Yummy!
