You can get there by car but it's a much better idea to hike from Santa Maria Navaresse - the route is absolutely beautiful!

Had sailed past the previous day and were looking for somewhere close to SMN for a quick exploration and swim. Easy to find, around 30 mins north of SMN and sign posted.
Surfaced roads take you to a small cluster of car parking spaces and on arrival you can walk 5-10 mins either to the north or south. These are rocky coves so shoes for swimming are recommended and flat spots for drying off are at a premium.
Stunning views and a great place for a refreshing swim and worth bringing a snorkel. Nice place to while away an hour or two if you like something a little adventurous.

Easy to reach by car and beautiful view to the sea however, it is not really comfortable to have a quick swim due to rocky costline with slippery stones.

Really great , not an easy drive as it is hiding on the side road but differently worth it.
You can also hike there from Santa Maria , around 7 Kms
There is also a lovely Resturan over there

Highly recommended especially if staying in Baunei. This is the closest access to the sea from the town and was not crowded when we came in mid August. Ample parking and ok restaurant for a lunch spot after your swim. We really enjoyed swimming amongst the fish and the big rocks. The sea is crystal clear and warm. There is no beach so you have to set up on the rocks, but we spent most of our time in the water.

This is a magic place. If you are staying anywhere near, please don't miss it. You can arrive by car, there's plenty of parking space, breath in the spectacular view and then you can go down on the steps positioned on either side of the monolith. It's also a great place for snorkeling. Nature at its best in and out of the water.

Had a superb hike from St Maria Navarese to Pedro Longa. Start at the hostel and follow the path. It's 4.8km and the terrain is reasonable. A few difficult bits. The most difficult is the heat - so cover with hat and si cream and take lots of water. Once you get there be sure to visit the restaurant and have a swim from the rocks.

This is a beautiful hike. Good directions here: http://www.visitbaunei.it/en/portfolio-type/trekking-a-pedra-longa/. It’s 1.5 hrs each way at a moderate pace.
Make sure you don't accidentally go up a very steep hill early on after the gate at the beginning of the hike. If you find yourself continually hiking uphill and it no longer seems like a beginner hike, go back and take a left to continue on the correct trail. The hike is beginner-friendly for most of its length except for a few spots that are dusty and steep. Bring water, snacks, and take lots of pictures!

The path is found at at the end Via Pedra Longa, after the Ostello Bellavista restaurant. The first part of the path goes up hill and after some time it splits in to two paths. Due to bad marking we headed up wards for about 20 minutes before we realized this was not the right trail. Going back down hill we met some locals who told us to take the lower trail (about 50 meters above sea level). After this first mistake the rest of the path was easy to spot and we truly enjoyed the remaining 1½ hour with beautiful sceneries all the way to Pedra Longa. Close to Pedra Longa we saw wild boar and was also very happy to find a small restaurant. It is possible to walk all the way down to the sea and swim but on the day we visited is was windy and the water/waves/stones seemed to be dangerous so we didn´t dare to. After a small lunch we headed back to the path returning to S.M. Navarese and as most times the way back seemed to be shorter might be because we didnt make any wrong turns on the path. Pedra Longe is a very scenic place and absolutely worth a visit - by car or by foot.

We started the trip to Pedra Longa from the center of Baunei. The road is approx 10 km long and very winding, but extremely beautiful. There are several scenic view points to contemplate the mountains and the sea. Also, you can just walk for the last part of the road. There is no beach there, just rocks and a natural pool where you can jump and dive. On the road, there is a good restaurant to take a break and relax. We stopped there on the way back and enjoyed a late lunch (surprisingly, they were open during the siesta).
I would definitely go back there one day if I visited Sardinia again. The place is really wonderful, with stunning views.
