A beautiful town on Lake Garda with a large Saturday market, plenty of shops and restaurants, and lots of easy parking. Very pretty.

Salo is agreat place to unwind and watch teh world go by. You can travel around the lake either by bus ( which s cheap) or boat ( which is not). The only downfall with the ferries is that they are always on time but never at the time you want them due to the ares they cover.

Our goup of 10 took a private speedboat tour of Lake Garda which lasted most of the day. Highly recommend this approach to seeing the Lake. Our operator was Bertoldi Boats and our Captain was Valentino. He was very pleasant and professional. You can also cross the Lake in several Ferries, but I doubt they take you close to the attractions. This photos speak for themselves!

The lake of Garda is a popular holiday location, especially for German people, it’s on the edge of Dolomiti .
Glaciers formed this alpine region at the end of last ice age.
The northern part of the lake is narrower, surrounded by mountains and often with strong winds so it’s particularly loved by windsurfers.
The south of the lake is very large and calmly, with a wonderful climate all year round

Sara from our B & B took us around the lake on her boat. Didn't realise just how big the lake is! We spent a few hours travelling around seeing the sites on the lake and the private island where the nobility from Venice live.

This is a very large lake with a very diverse number of towns and places of interest dotted around its perimeter.
If you have the time, the best way to see the different places is to go by the different ferries that ply their trade around it - but they are split into zones so you need to be careful you pick the right ones.
This is a simply beautiful area.

We were on a week long Riviera Travel holiday to Lake Garda and the Dolomites. Because of the timing of our flight into Venice we arrived at our hotel in Malcesine in the dark very late at night so saw nothing of the lake. However on our first day we were due to go on a coach tour around most of the lake and have a ferry trip across part of the lake on our first full day.

We were not disappointed with what we saw. The views were always very good at least and sometimes absolutely stunning. We had a very experienced and knowledgeable guide (Werner) and excellent driver (Ferrer??) who between them made this a truly memorable experience for us.

One unexpected experience was when were were coming alongside a stopping point and a high speed vessel passed by very close to our vessel which was struck by the wake which was almost of tsumani like proportions. Several people waiting to disembark our ferry got their feet soaked up to and above their ankles.

There is so much to see and do at this amazing place. The most northern place where lemons can grow, as the lake keeps the temperature moderate. There are Riveria style palm trees along the shoreline...not what I expected. And to top it off - literally - Mount Baldo is a experience not to be missed. If you want to simply ride the tram and take photos or hike for hours along the impressive ridgeline, it's an experience you won't forget. So gorgeous!
