Located in one of the more industrial areas of the island near the island’s airport and power plant. Water is quite shallow, so one needs to walk some distance to fully immerse without laying down. Very fine black “sand” sticks to everything. Lots of seaweed in the water. The froth from waves was brown. Freighters anchored offshore. Seemed dirty. Check out the photos on a web browser map for Paralia Monolithos to see for yourself. Positive reviews for this beach do not mention most of these downsides.

Adored this beach - our holiday really was one of a kind. We luckily didn’t come across any awful experience. The beach is (personally) my favorite in santorini. So quiet, so peaceful, not busy at all and just somewhere where you fully can relax

It’s a volcanic sandy beach so it’s not your pretty golden sandy beach. The colour wasn’t the issue, the cleanliness however was! I could not believe how many cigarette butts there were it was awful. The icing on the cake though, a sanitary pad! Yes indeed.
A further nail in the coffin in there is a huge what I believe to be a power station which is omitting huge plumes of diesel exhaust fumes. We drove past few times and they have huge diesel generators. The wind was clearly not favourable the day we went to the beach and the fumes were all in the beaches direction. I am assuming the power is something to do with the airport which is literally abutting the power station.
The aircraft are not constant and don’t pose much of an issue. Maybe it’s because it’s slightly out of season. But that power station is. The noise they make is constant and the fumes persistent. Aside from environmentally being dreadful, it’s a shame for the businesses along that stretch of road opposite the beach. We were staying in a nice hotel staff lovely, but sadly the fumes wafted over the pool one afternoon.
If you come to Santorini I would avoid this beach. Aside from this there are other places that are really nice.
You’re welcome!

I have to agree what negatives people are saying about this place. Yes it's in the middle of no where, yes it's not the most attractive of beaches, and yes a bit further down the coastal road is awful. There is debris and litter everywhere, there's an abandoned car with 2 toilet sticking out of it's boot and of course the massive electricity power plant gushing tons of black smoke into the air 24/7, as well as the noise it makes!

We came to this beach taken by the positive comments. But once we got here, we knew immediately that we were in an abandoned and scruffy area. Every 15 minutes or so an unbreathable stench comes from the factory behind. Unthinkable place, I can't understand how people gave it 5 stars! But where do you live?

Ugly beach in a town that looks like the industrial area of a scruffy city. From the obrellome you will enjoy a beautiful view of trucks on the right and a moored cargo ship on the left. Good thing I only stopped here for a few hours before returning home. Don't go there even for a few hours. It's not worth it at all.

An extremely quiet and pleasant place. Sandy and wide beach. Very simple. We paid an umbrella and two sunbeds only 15 euros. Then we had lunch in a Lucan right on the sea behind the umbrellas... a typically Greek place but good in its simplicity.

We were in search of the best beach in Santorini even though we know it's not known for its beaches and we were there in the shoulder season. However, when we stumbled upon Monolithos we knew we had scored the best place. It was quite, tranquil and had the softest sand by far!
