A piece of history which has been wonderfully neglected so much so that this place is now visible from outside.
Some time back a Science and Energy Park was created around this landmark, but presently that is closed and so is this place.

Its a place of historic significance ..As most of you are aware of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay, the author of Vande Mataram, had mentioned this particular tilla in his novel Devi Chaudhurani, which had been converted into movies/plays/serial ..
Nice place to watch because of the green patches and fresh air

Even after searching for 1 hour asking 5-6 local people, we could not locate the place. GPS did not work for us in entire Durgapur. Don't know how the local people survive! After trying for more than an hour when we reached the place, we found almost nothing worth to see there. Not recommended for travellers from distant places. Might be just another hangout place for locales.

Today the 26 January 2016, I went to Devi Choudhurani Tilla along with my wife, my nephew, his wife and his two little children. We were not allowed to go nearby the cave as the park was under construction. But we could see one of the point of the tunnel at City centre. It was really an exciting moment for me as well as my nephew. We both studied the novel "Devi Choudhurani" written by Bankim Chandra during our school life. I studied it as a novel but it was beyond my imagination that it really existed. After visiting the place, I confirmed that it was not a mere novel but it has got a historical values.

During my visit on July 2016 the place was completely closed for the visitors. The security guard told us that due to an incident of murder happened inside the area the property will remain closed for one more month.

One of my childhood attraction. As I born at Durgapur and being near it, I used to visit this place in afternoons. But some years back they made Energy Park over it... :( :)

The best part of this small hill or 'tilla' was that I found different historical carvings on the rocks encompassing the area. I learnt from locals that it used to be the cave of dacoits.

There is nothing for tourists to see here because the cave has long been permanently closed for public, as I was told by the officials during my visit.

There is really nothing of any special interest here, just a small temple and rock, and mostly frequented by locals. Definitely not a tourist destination.
