    Murchinson Falls is wonderful!!!!
This national park in Uganda is beautiful and has had a great variety of wildlife. The highlight was the great number of Rothschild giraffes. Plan at least three nights here. The falls are extremely beautiful and poverful

    Beautiful park, great birding
Great park in Uganda, lots of tourist development in progress. Lots of animals and the birding was great! The landscape kept on changing and we encountered a good variety of wildlife. Beware of the stinging flies though! Ensure you spray your clothes and equipment with the correct bug spray. The moment you stop the vehicle, they appear from nowhere!

An experience not to be missed.
We were there four days with Unveil Uganda. Our tour included four game drives, boat ride on the Nile to the falls, top of the falls and the white rhino reserve. We stayed at the Bamboo Lodge. I give it perfect 10's all the way. Our driver and guide, Ronnie and Andrew, are the best.

    Lots of animals
It’s a beautiful national park. We saw so many animals during our game drives that I can’t even list all of them. The park has an unusual amount of palm trees which was surprising considering the area. Unfortunately, the Ugandan government authorised the extraction of oil that was found there recently. Construction has began which takes A LOT away from the undisturbed beauty. Money talks…

    Beautiful and vast National Park
I was blown away by the beauty of this National Park and the sheer amount of wildlife that can be seen. During two game drives we saw large groups of elephants, numerous giraffes, 2 groups of lions, a leopard as well as hyenas, kops, hartebeests, warthogs and oribis. You can drive for hours through this beautiful and varied landscape encountering different animals at every turn. Add to this the stunning Murchison Falls and boat trip on the Nile (for even more wildlife spotting), and Murchison National Park is most definitely a must-see when in Uganda.

The views at the falls are just mind blowing. We had a couple of game drives where we saw a lot of animals including water bucks, giraffes, elephants, buffalos and lions. The 3 hour launch drive was also very refreshing and the views spectacular!!

We had a four-day safari staying at the Sambiya safari lodge in Murchison Falls National Park. January is always one of the best times to travel there, we had great views of wildlife and an amazing boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. The hike to the Top of the falls offers stunning views of the falls at every turn you take. At Sambiya Lodge, we were welcomed by a herd of buffaloes close to the parking area, and the rasping sounds of leopards in the night near our cottages. Sambiya River Lodge was refurbished by the new owners and it's looking nice. One of the clients was a disabled person, and the beauty of it is that Sambiya Lodge has wheelchair-accessible rooms and rumps at every point of the lodge making it easy for persons using a wheelchair

We visited the park for the first time in 2015. Even then, the dark threat of oil exploration loomed over the park. Nine years later, unfortunately, our worst fears have come true. The park is crisscrossed by highways with trucks driving on them and most drivers disregarding the speed limit.
Unfortunately, the nature in Uganda is under tremendous pressure and unless there is some change in the mindset of the people, the future will not be rosy.

We visited Murchison National Park on January 26, 2024 during our tour through Uganda. We have seen and experienced wonderful things here, but unfortunately also very unpleasant ones.
Starting with the good points:
- Many different wild animals live together in the park and it is beautiful to see them in their natural habitat. For example, we saw elephants, giraffes, various birds, hippos, buffalos, monkeys, a leopard, kobs and other gazelle-like animals.
- The park is large and sometimes you are all alone (without many other jeeps) looking at an animal.
- In addition to a game drive, you can also take two boat trips. We visited the waterfalls. You will also encounter a lot of wildlife along the way. We thought it was definitely worth it.

The cons:
- The Chinese built a gigantic highway through the park. This does not quite fit with the appearance of the park. Moreover, it is remarkable that the road is not built around the park, but straight through it.
- Digging is taking place in the park. And big too. You are not allowed to take photos of it, this is indicated on signs. All kinds of pipes are being laid and there are large machines. This also does not fit with a National Park.
- We came across a beautiful snake along the way. We were allowed to take a photo of it. However, the guide chased the animal with a branch. The animal tried to hide under the tire of the car and did not want to get out so quickly. The guide apparently had no patience for the snake and drove over its tail. As a result, the snake had a serious wound on its back. We were shocked by this cruel form of animal abuse. We also said something about this, but we have to see it as 'an accident' and the snake would recover. We sincerely hope that he will. The poor animal didn’t hurt anyone. The guides know a lot about the 'big' life on the savannah, but little about the insects and reptiles. We expected more information and respect towards these species, especially from a Ranger.
- Large parts of the park are set on fire. It is unclear to us why, but even in our lodge it was raining with black ash that fell on us. The burning smell can be smelled.

I give two stars because the animals are fantastic, human actions in the park and towards some animal species deserve attention and improvement.
