Drove out to Yokohama Beach on New Years Eve. Had small enough waves that my grandson was safe; medium size waves to make it fun for the bigger kids. Considering it was a weekend AND a holiday, was surprised that the beach wasn't crowded. Plenty...More

Great local beach and saw big schools of a few different types of fish. Don'y turn your back on the ocean the waves can get big certain times of the year.

This can be a popular beach with locals on weekends and holidays, so be prepared for a full parking lot. Other times, you have it to yourself. It was great to have lunch here before heading off on a hike to Kaena Point. It was...More

Yes this beach is quite a drive from the city, but it is worth it! This beach isn't crowded and has some of the most amazing Sunsets on the island. The ocean currents can be strong here, so probably not the best place to swim,...More

The drive along the west side of Oahu to Yokohama bay is spectacular. Two lane road along the ocean , unspoiled coast with rugged rocky areas and wide, expansive sandy beaches.

There is a great MORNING hike to Kaena Point, but it gets very hot with little wind in the afternoon. Drive to the very end of the road where the pavement ends, and park in the gravel parking lot (or along the side of the...More

Sunsets are absolutely breathtaking. Dog friendly / family friendly. You gotta drive to get here. This is where the locals go, and where visitors come to get away from the touristy-ness of Waikiki and Honolulu. No bathroom, so bring your own TP. No food, so...More
