Historical Brittany enclos. Definitely worth a visit. I would also recommend to visit Guimmilleau which is very close and better. The Crêperie Steredern in the rue de la Gare just next door is absolutely fantastic.

I love visiting churches wherever i go because they reflect the culture of the area, in various ways, the architecture, paintings and sculpture. This church has a magnificent Calvarie which alone makes the visit worthwhile.

Together with the enclos Parroisal of Guimillau and Lampaul-Guimillau these three churches are of the most typical of this form of folk art. Built in a naive barouque style that betrays its rustic origin they are charming nonetheless. Built mostly during the Contrareformation in the...More

My field is history, and I also have a good working knowledge of art and architecture. The enclos paroissial, a church complex, is one of several in this region, and a good introduction to the other sites. Nothing like your usual tourist destination. Bring a...More

This building represents the culmination of a cultural phenomenon that is unique to this region. A visit to this and some of the other neighboring parish closes gives the impression of a very active game of one-upmanship as villages tried to outdo each other in...More

If you are even close to Saint-Thegonnec in Brittany, France, take the time to make a detour to visit the parish close of this small village church. The ornate baroque altar pieces (retables) are simply breath-taking regardless of your religion. Don't miss the displays in...More
