Very easy to get to, there is a ferry that runs regularly across the lake from the train station. A beautiful town, I recommend renting a boat out, very cheap.

Most beautiful place in Austria for me. We so enjoyed it with kids. Some tips for the tourists, all souvenirs are expensive, most of them are cheaper even in the airport or supermarkets. Not all restaurants are ad good as it seems, most of them can be found on TripAdvisor with a very low score. We found one restaurant at... More

It's not difficult to find a place taking photos whenever around the lake or up to the mountain. Thanks for the creations from God !

The town is nice, the scenery is absolutely stunning. There is so much to see, we went up the mountains, tour caves, salt mines, did a cave trekking experience, road a boat on the lake, did not want to leave

Such a beautiful place. We walked around for two hours before deciding where to have dinner. Everywhere you look there is a picture to be taken. We are sitting on the balcony of our room enjoying the evening.

This place is so beautiful, the photos really don't do it justice! It is the most perfect little village right on the lake front surrounded by snow capped mountains and trees. There are lovely little cafes to enjoy and lots of walks. The only slight downer may be the amount of tourists. My partner and I were here in early... More

We drove the pretty road from Salzburg to Hallstatt, about one hour to discover an idyllic lakeside town. The funicular chair lift took us to the breathtaking viewing platform. Whilst having coffee here we were recommended 5 Fingers at Obertraun so we made the short drive to Dachstein and took 2 cable cars then a 20 minute walk to the... More

Hallstatt is absolutely idyllic. It is situated in Saltzkammergut region of Austria, about 60km from highway. That`s the place where time stops and you can completely relax, far away from the city noise. Little town of Hallstatt is placed by a lake, surrounded by mountains. Combination of beautiful nature and interesting history - these are the factors that makes this... More
