Beautiful Bay and clear water

We (2) stayed at Ao Prao Resort for two nights in November. The sea tide was high in November. The bay was beautiful especially during sunset. The water was clear. The ocean was calm in Ao Prao.

Dirty, littered beach

I spent an hour every day clearing litter of the beach in front of ranger station on the beach while the ranger sat back in chair. I made a point of putting bags of rubbish in front of ranger next to his hut.

Ranger is paid to do what exactly? more than a year of shutdown and rubbish has piled up on the island. the treeline next to the road has many rubbish dumps and none of the rangers have done anything.

Koh Samed’s Sunset Beach

Ao Prao beach is a calm crescent beach on the north west corner of a Koh Samed. It’s alleged to offer the best sunset views on Koh Samed. This may in fact be true - regardless, they are in fact lovely sunsets. The beach has three hotels along the perimeter - it can be busy but not overcrowded. It’s not as wide as other beaches on the island, but it’s secluded and well maintained.

Quiet getaway. Good place to recharge.

We drove about 2:30hrs from BKK and parked at the pier. They have 24hrs security for the parking lot. Once we checked in, we hoped on the speed boat which took about 10 mins to the resort. We booked the jacuzzi room overlooking the beach, room# 902. The sunset here, on a sunny day, is amazing. This was our second time here on Samet. The first time we stayed at the main beach (Aou Sakaew). We like this beach(Aou Prao) more, the beach is less crowded and you can catch the sunset here. The staff here was excellent especially Mr. Payab, he was very friendly. He made our stay enjoyable. We highly recommend this resort for a quick getaway.

Small, mellow, quality

As you will read everywhere... this is the quiet beach, the only beach on the west side of the island... the one you go to if you don't want to party and rage, but instead have a relaxed adult life. True. Great also for families. The snorkeling is fun, we saw 6-7 kinds of tropical fish. There are just 3 hotels here and no shops or retail outside the hotels. If you want a 6-7 minute ride to the main side, ask the hotel to get a green truck taxi to come by ... 200
Thai baht for the trip. This is now my favorite beach in thailand.

The most beautiful beach on the island

This truly is the best beach on Samed! All the beaches on the east side had high waves due to windy weather, while at the same time this beach was amazing- quiet sea, not a single wave. The reef is beautiful and you could spot all kinds of fishes. Just ask the restaurant for a fee pieces of watermelon and fun is guaranteed- hundreds of fishes in all kind of colors and shapes will surround you. The sunset is amazing and enough good restaurants! Beach chairs for rent at the beginning of the beach, near the coralreef, but with the powdery sand just spreading a towel somewhere further under the palmtrees is hardly a punishment. My kind of beach!
