Wanna Get Away from the City and all the hustle and bustle of the City and escape into a calm serene environment. Then Head down to Kolamb Beach. So Beautiful So Amazing and Absolutely Pleasant beyond measure. Our plan was an impromptu one and by the gods it was perfect. A Simple village atmosphere with an extremely amazing lip-smacking cuisine and mesmerizing beach front property. The people are humble and honest and moreover extremely friendly and everyone knows everyone. Thats Good cause everything can be arranged anytime every time.

How To Get There: The Nearest Railway Station is Kudal and all Trains on the Konkan Belt Stop here. Near about 30 kms from here is Kolamb Village. Take a Rick from here. It should cost you roughly around 400-600 Rs depending on the Rickshaw Guy.

Where To Stay: We stayed at the Samudra Resort right on the Kolamb Beach. My Sincerest Recommendation. This Place is run by Rohan Sarang. Trust me I realized "Atithi Devo Bhava" (Guest is Like God) when i stayed here. Rohan and his Wife dotted over us with any to everything that we could want for and pampered us with the fresh catch of the day and the tastiest Malvan Food I have ever eaten. Rahan is the best host you can wish for and his wife the best Chef. Stay in this Humble Abode and Live Like Royalty !!!

What To Do: Scuba Diving !!!! 10 Km and 60 Rs Away There is the only place in Maharashtra where you can do Scuba Diving. Believe it or not Rohan Sarang can get you discounts there too !!!

Sindudurg Fort : An Amazing Fort Worth a Visit Very Near to The Scuba Diving Jetty.

Rock Garden : Worth a Visit ... Its Just Your Wild Waves Smashing On Rocks But Beautiful Nonetheless.

Note: The Ricks always charge for Return Trips ( Thats cause more than often they may have to end up coming back empty) but the fares are still affordable under all accord.

Always pick an overnight journey train to get here. The Early Morning Foggy Ghat is a Beauty to drive through.

Living in a big city can be daunting, especially with all the noise. So if you miss the silence, the gentle strokes of the sea hitting the shore, empty roads, and great weather, then it is time to head to Tarkarli and its neighborhood. I backpacked to the south Konkan coast in December. On my agenda was a laidback time on the beach, an affordable home-stay, good food and beer. And my plan was to beach hop.

Tucked between Ratnagiri and a little less than 100 kms short of Goa is the peace and quiet of Maharashtra’s finest but most under-marketed beaches on the South Konkan coast. These include Tarkarli (extends for about 12 km), Deobagh, and Vengurla.

If you are looking to add a Goan texture to your getaway without the commercialisation, then Tarkarli fits the bill. Resting around the sleepy town of Malvan, the beaches and the backwaters along the Karli River are a lovely place to visit for a leisure trip. Unlike Goa, you will find no pubs or bars but then the entire beach is a place to hang out. Add the silence, the spicy Malvani food and the odd sports activities, and it more than makes up for everything that it doesn't offer.

Must do

Tarkarli shuts down at 8 pm and that is a good thing. After a day full of quietness, snorkelling, scuba diving, fort visits, fishing, and cycling, this is the time to unwind. During my stay here, I woke up early morning to spot dolphins (and they obliged), went to bed late at night after gazing at stars, scuba dived in the afternoon, took photographs of a setting sun and egrets, lazed under the December sun, rented a bicycle and went about town on it in the evening.

Around Tarkarli
Around sunset and later is the best time to venture out for a long walk on the beach. Don’t forget to carry a torch and anti-mosquito repellent cream. Sindhudurg Fort is a must visit. It’s multi-sided, spread over 48 acres and is an island fort in the Arabian Sea associated with Maharashtra’s hero, Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is designed in such a way that it serves as a deterrent to approaching enemies and tides. The main entrance is concealed. Padmagad is another island fort and quite imposing. n Known for its coral findings and rich marine life, snorkelling and diving enthusiasts arrange a session based on demand. The diving experts are all trained by the MTDC.
Dolphin sighting. Wake up early to see the dolphins. I was lucky to see many from up close. n Deobaug backwaters, which is between the Arabian Sea and the Karli river, is a bird-lover’s paradise. Locals recommend this place more than Tarkarli.

How to get there
If you are travelling from Mumbai, then rail and road are good options. The Jan Shatabdi Express leaves
every morning from Dadar Central to drop you at Kudal. From Kudal, travel to Malvan, which is 33 kms away, and then to Tarkarli, Deobaug or Vengurla. MTDC has also
started luxury buses to Tarkarli.

Call 2204 4040
Where to stay: On Tarkarli beach – MTDC resort and many homestays touching the resort.

Although Tarkarli has started seeing significant crowd these days, Kolamb beach still remains empty. The stretch of sand is just as fine as Tarkarli and water very welcoming. It is about 4 km from the Malvan bust stand and easily accessible with Auto rickshaws. There are 2-3 homestay cum hotels right across the beach. We stayed at the Krishna Hotel there. It felt pretty much like a private beach and we ended up lying on the beach till quite late in the night.

Great beach! Peaceful! I have experienced scuba diving with Gomantak Scuba. They are the only PADI certified scuba diving center in Malvan. Next time I will do Advance open water course with them.

We visited this beach for a very small while; wish it was otherwise. the beach is very clean; and very less populated. Definitely worth a visit iff you are looking for a fresh air and quiet kind of a place, with nothing but the sound of the waves lashing across the shore...
Preferably carry food/snacks with you to eat; they might not be so easily available, iff available, at the beach. (note: we went in the late morning)

Kolamb beach is not easily accessible, far away from road. Thus not much frequented by tourists. A quick 15min drive from Malvan City will get you there. Clean beach with very cozy and private atmosphere. Beach not advisable for swimming as currents are strong and depth increases suddenly.

All the beaches of Malvan / Tarkarli are simply awesome But this beach is simply fantastic. A virgin, unexplored serene beach. An ideal place for meditation.
Watching the deep blue pristine water gives you mental peace par excellence.
A hidden gem indeed !

A much better option to the crowded and expensive Goa. Albeit, reaching here takes a while. Also, acco here is definitely a shade of the five star deluxe comforts that you can expect in Goa. But, if you are a beach lover and a sports enthusiast, this is definitely a better option!!
Longing to go there again sometime soon.

Whilst on holiday we decided to go to the SECLUDED,ROMANTIC Kola beach resort.
It was sold as a secluded romantic beach side tented expierience.
It was becide the beach It was in tents. But secluded and romantic is was not.
We arrived after a hairy taxi ride to find we had to walk down a cliff face.
Once there we where greeted by about 40 Russian young people who had been on the drink for quite a while.
They where not arrogant or anything like that but they where LOUD.
Most of them went around 5pm and it did become quiet until around 10pm when the drink kicked in again.
Several of the people asked the managment to try and get them to tone it down but no joy, eventually a couple of other guests went to see them and it did go quiet.
On the up side the food was Great.
And it was a lovely sunrise.
Overall not as described and was a bit of a let down.
