The fort is situated within the city. The old fort is in currently lying in dilapidated condition and closed for people to visit, one can only walk along the periphery wall of the fort, which offers practically no exciting view. A new building is under construction. The fort complex also houses a tiny Govt. run museum, temple and elephant statues. There is no entry fee, few parking available and entry closed at 6 pm. Nothing much to do or see, nothing to lose if missed.

The main fort is abandoned. All we could see were dilapidated buildings with weeds growing around them. There is a main palace building which is under construction as of March 2023 so you can’t see that and there’s a tiny museum. Please skip if you don’t have enough time to see it, there is other nicer stuff to see.

This is near to bus stand. We can park our car in the fort. Today, the fort serves as a government building. As per information, Muddu Raja built this ancient fort during the seventeenth century. This fort passed through many hands. The structure and design of the fort underwent significant changes as a result, the most significant of which were made by the British. Life-sized elephants, historical artifacts, and a compound wall were seen during our visit to the site.

This old fort was once a DC office and now this place is vacated by them due to a court order. From past 5 years, Madikeri fort is under renovation and there is nothing much to witness. We were told this renovation work will go on for another 2-3 years; and only after that it will be restored to its old glory. Hence, we plan to visit this place once more in 2025.

Madikeri Fort and the government museum are on a single premise. Madikeri fort actually doesn't have any fort except a compound wall.

This is the palace building which is 100 metres from the government museum in an old church, which is open to the public. This palace/fort we can only see from outside, apparently it has been under renovation for years. No sign of any workers, though. Guard has no idea when it will open again. We can only wander around the outside compound area.

Hi,
It is 6am–8pm
I went around 5 pm and didnt find any kind of entrance office or gate to close it. So its pretty much open when the staff are there (there's a small collection room). otherwise, the fort is accessible from the outside throughout the day.
