Lovely Coorg, located in the southern part of India, is renowned for its lush coffee plantations and is often referred to as the "Coffee Capital of India." Coffee tasting in Coorg offers a delightful experience for coffee enthusiasts. Here's a review of a coffee tasting experience in Coorg with special thanks to Vaishnavi MG.

Venue: The coffee tasting alongwith an organised session took place at a lovely store cum rich abode "Agastya Coffee Experience Centre" run jointly by Vaishnavi and Shabri estate nestled amidst the verdant hills of Coorg Hills and streets of the city. Their estate had well-maintained coffee plants and a charming ambiance that added to the overall experience as shown around by Giri (Vaishnavi better half)

Coffee Varieties: The tasting featured various coffee varieties, including Arabica and Robusta. Both varieties are grown abundantly in Coorg due to its favorable climate and rich soil. The centre showcased their single-origin coffees, each offering unique flavors and aromas.

Tasting Process: The coffee tasting session began with a brief introduction to the history and cultivation of coffee in Coorg. The knowledgeable host explained the different processing methods involved in creating distinct flavors. They emphasized the significance of each step in enhancing the final taste.

Aroma and Fragrance: As the freshly brewed coffee was served, the inviting aroma filled the air. The aroma was rich, with notes of chocolate, caramel, and floral undertones. It was evident that the coffee beans had been carefully selected and roasted to perfection.

Flavor Profiles: The tasting showcased the diversity of flavors found in Coorg coffee. The Arabica beans exhibited a smooth, well-rounded taste with a hint of acidity and fruity undertones. The Robusta beans, on the other hand, presented a stronger and bolder flavor with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Acidity and Body: The coffee had a balanced acidity, adding a pleasant brightness to the flavor profile. The body of the coffee was medium to full, providing a satisfying mouthfeel.

Finish: The coffee had a lingering finish, leaving a delightful aftertaste that varied depending on the variety. Some coffees had a nutty or spicy finish, while others had a subtle sweetness that lingered pleasantly on the palate.

Expert Guidance: The host provided insightful information about the different brewing methods, such as pour-over, French press, and espresso, and how they can affect the flavor profile. They also shared tips on storing and grinding coffee beans to maintain freshness.

Overall Experience: The coffee tasting experience in Coorg was exceptional. From the beautiful setting to the flavorful coffees, it was evident that the estate took great pride in producing high-quality coffee. The informative session and the warm hospitality added to the overall enjoyment of the experience.

Coorg's No1 coffee tasting session and Experience Centre "Agastya" offers a great opportunity to explore the rich coffee culture of the region. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or simply appreciate a good cup of joe, Coorg's coffee estates are definitely worth a visit for a memorable coffee tasting experience
