Decent waterfall, one of tye major attractions of coorg
Another waterfall in south India which is worth visiting after rainy season. However we went pre monsoon in May, it wasn't that bad. One can only see the falls from far and it's blocked for bathing n all. There is a walk down and proper stairs are there. We were there with 3 kids under 6 years and all of them.walked comfortably. It's around 500m walk down with 10m elevation change.

    Wonderful view
The main attraction in Madikeri. Little long route from Madikeri town with lot of small roads. Google map can guide you better to trace the route. However sign board will help you to travel the last one km . Wonderful view of the Falls. Even during summer we get enough water in falls. The major disadvantage is we cannot go near or take bath in the falls as it is fenced only we can take a view. we need to walk the steps down lying between the coffee plantation having lot of Jack fruit trees. The sign board warns us about the mis-happenings in the falls and that justifies the fencing.

    Abbey Falls Coorg
It's a beautiful view of the waterfall. But the surrounding has not looked good. There is a hanging bridge and it's broken. Not repaired. There are no seats to sit and enjoy the beauty of the waterfall. We can't go to near the waterfall , even a short distance into the water. Only can see from a distance. We visited June 11, 2023

    Main attraction of Coorg
The main attraction in Coorg located near Madikeri Town.Little Long route with narrrow roads from Madikeri Town.Google map will guide until the last but one km where you need to follow signboard. Good parking place with valley view. Entrance to falls has a signboard with details of falls along with a warning about mishappennings happened earlier. We need to walk down through the fenced steps in the middle of a coffee estate. The falls gives a wonderful view from the steps. Three layers/ steps of flow from top giving an awesome visit worth the climbing in the steps. We are neither allowed to go near falls nor to take bath. A broken bridge & watch tower is available. Space is Little less to handle peak crowd. Parking space has public amenities with few restaurants..

    Little Waterfall
The Abbey Falls were a long drive from Virajpet where we were staying till Madikeri in Coorg. The vehicles can go and park very close to falls. The price of tickets is quite low. There are many steps to go down. The steps are not high and some are quite wide. There are banisters. People who are old or cannot climb steps cannot access the falls. At the bottom of the falls there is a short viewing tower. The steps to fall have some benches but some are not in good condition. The trash cans are shaped like animals but are also looking worn or are overflowing. The steps are wet in rainy weather and get slippery.

    Waterfall is a scenic grandeur
The waterfall is a combination of many streams that come together and fall into a pool of water that flows and merge into River Kaveri. The scenic grandeur of Abbey Falls increases by many folds in monsoon. During Monsoon, the stream of water becomes thicker with louder roar. Adding to it is the richer greenery around, which does create sight of a lifetime

    Falls within Lush Greenery
Abbey Falls, located near Madikeri, is one of the popular tourist spots in Coorg. The entry fee is Rs. 10 per pax. From entry gate, there is a downward walk, through concrete pathway / steps to the falls. The downward walk is easy, however in between sitting provisions on the side of pathway are available for rest, if necessary. Relatively a small waterfall with couple of minor / moderate streams. When we visited in June’23, the water streams were normal. The waterfall is nestled between several plantations and greenery all around, which offers a nice scenic beauty. The sight of water falling from a high cliff, surrounded by lush greenery is indeed a nice sight. A viewing tower is available at the side of falls, also a non-operational hanging bridge is available just opposite the falls. A nice spot for photo ops.

Amazing location, very well maintained by the authorities. The walk through is just lovely and so is the forest around it. Greenery galore, tall trees all around it was breathtaking.

Location: 12 Kms from Madikeri
Ambience: Restricted & Clumsy
Photography quotient: High
Approach: Concrete stairs, but may be difficult for people with knee ailments
Parking: Available for 4 wheelers (For buses, the parking is 1 km away)
Recommendation: People who have experienced falls in Himalayas or in Dudhsagar or Chitrakoot, this just may be a stream of water during monsoon. During weekend & special holidays, please reach there by 8.30 PM positively, failing which, one may get stuck into 3/4 kms of traffic jam

Nothing much to write home about - A decent enough minor waterfall that could have been interesting if it were better managed. As it is, it is more of a tourist trap than an place worth visiting.

Filthy place full of litter. There is a wide concrete path leading up to the falls that has completely spoilt its beauty!
