It is a very crowded place, lots of construction going on at places inside. Did not want to take off my shies to go inside the main building, it didn't look very clean. We went around mid morning.

Golden Temple is located in Kushalnagar, it is on the way to Madikeri from Mysore. It can be visited on half day tour from Madikeri. The Monastery has attractive artworks on the wall. There is a big park in the monastery. The place feels a peaceful environment. A good place to visit for those going to Coorg. It has ample parking space.

The monastry is not that great to visit. Most of it is curtailed off for visitors, which is fair, as it is supposed to be a sacred, peaceful place for meditation. The only place that is open is the temple, which is majestic, but otherwise not really great. A nice set of shops at the entrance where you can get great Buddhist stuff.

Tibetan Monastery / Golden temple is located at Kushalnagar, around 35 km from Coorg city. It has an expansive temple complex that houses beautiful golden temple. The major attraction of the place is forty feet tall golden Buddha statues. The walls of the temples are decorated with beautiful paintings depicting the characters from Tibetan Buddhist mythology. Overall the temple’s internal and external architecture looked colorful and lovely. Mobile was allowed inside the temple. There is a shoe counter available with a nominal charge at the entry point of the temple. Besides temple, the complex also houses specific premises / accommodations for the monks, garden, souvenir shop, café etc.
