Well formed and thought out series of walks and trails to suit a variety of walks, runs and rides. Horse and bike friendly tracks, dog walking tracks and some great new carved artworks on the forest amble.

You have several options of how you explore the Hanmer Forest. I do wish we'd found the trail map earlier. There are single track trails for bikes with different levels of challenges, trails set aside for hikers/runners and even for horses. One trail had ten...More

Walk straight from town on the heritage forest tracks to get in the cool shade of tall trees, and away from the crowds: not even dog-walkers seem to go far from the tracks near roads. Routes are marked but it’s a good idea to take...More

Nice walk around the forest looking for the sculptures. Easy stroll to pass some time. Did struggle following the signs but continued walking and eventually found our way back to the car. Flat walking and bike tracks to all to enjoy

Beautiful alpine walk up to the waterfall. Recommend good footwear for the descent. If we had more time we would have loved to have done Mt Isobel as well! Only took us two hours 20 minutes instead of the signposted three.

Hanmer forest is a vast track of land east of the town of Hanmer Springs. A part of it is adjacent to the town so you can go for a walk along dog stream just east of downtown. This part is quite easy. For the...More

This is a magical forest. Full of exotic, mature trees, with natives all over, the grassy places and stream, all adds up to a delightful way to spend a few hours in the shade. The walks are all very manageable for all ages. Make sure...More

Get a forest map at your accommodation or at the visitor information, and select a walk. There are 3 with different length. We took ‚Forest Journey‘, the longest, and it was great. The path is clearly marked, there is only one small up-the-hill section to...More
