We recently visited Hanmer Springs for the second time and looked forward to spending time in the delightful forest/park that hugs the town. It was wonderful to see families and mountain bike riders enjoying this great piece of local infrastructure. We walked around on a beautiful sunny autumn day , immersed in the simple beauty that the locals enjoy. It... More

A plantation of European trees laid out on a bit of a grid - perfect for a stroll for all ages, bikes and dogs welcome. The colours in Autumn are spectacular.

Take the walk to the waterfall. It's a long way about 2.5 hours and its hard uphill walking but worth it when you get there. Lovely forest walks, there are also bridal and bike tracks.

Great place to stop and stretch the legs - we had been driving all morning and our first stop was the forest for a picnic and a walk thru the Dog Stream waterfall tack. Serenaded by bellbirds while enjoying a great walk, a lot of uphill just FYI, to a stunning waterfall. Great views and the dog can come too.

Foraging for blackberries, listening to bellbirds, a good track through mature forest, English park like setting. Very nice walk.

We opted for a low level walk which was only 5 mins drive from our Motel. Probably could have been sign posted better but a nice bush walk, very refreshing

beautiful scenic hike through the forest you can trek up a mountain to a waterfall which is definately worth it. Looks like that from the herbal essences advert and you can literally shower under it. Many interesting trees and plants to see on route such as the black manuka trees.

My wife and I always like going into the forest walks at Hanmer Springs. Pick up a map and choose 1 or 2 that suit your time you want to spend, and your mood and the season. Great walks on the flat area for shade on a hot day and you can come out in the housing area of the... More

There are a lot of walks to choose from in the forest and it makes a fabulous place to explore. There are all levels available we took the dog real basically following the river. Picnic spots. Lots of bird life. Highly recommend
