The beaches there are not as wonderful as those at Las Pocitas, where we stayed just outside Mancora (in the northern portion). Every day we traveled to Las Pocitas in a Moto taxi for 5 soles, staying in front of the hotel Los Corales. You may use their amenities (toilets, beach beds) as long as you place an order at their bar. There were hardly any other people around, and it was really quiet. It seemed less windy than at Mancora for some reason, although that may just be a coincidence.

Nice sandy beach. Snorkeling was not great, to many waves, but I did see free divers going for oysters

This beach is better then the main one, but it s still not a good beach. Prices overpriced for food and drinks and bad quality restaurants

Very enjoyable beach 10 minutes or less south of the town of Máncora. You get there by 'moto-taxi', quite an experience in itself...!! (motorbike built into a tricycle, which can carry 2 or sometimes 3 passengers.
The beach faces north, mainly. It has pleasant waves and two or three rows of rocks, which form pools depending on the tides (hence the name 'Pocitas', I assume).
Beware of the sun; even at 9:30 am or 5pm, you need plenty of sunscreen.

This is an all together different beach to Mancora. It is more relaxed cleaner and calmer. But not without plenty of charm.
We were staying at the Arennas beach resort and after 2 weeks touring Peru and was looking for a relaxed atmosphere that is exactly what we got.
Big clean tranquil beach and lovely sea for swimming, we were at the quieter end and on occasions seemed like we were the only ones on the beach a marked contrast to Mancora.
Fantastic for long walks and runs along the beach to be at one with yourself and nature. It is very beautiful and unspoiled.
It is very secluded with little in the way of bars or restaurants, but that is exactly what we were after and this beach was the perfect place to idle away a week and recharge the batteries.

Just south of Máncora you can find one of the finest beaches in Peru: Las Pocitas. The climate and seawater is year round always just right. On Las Pocitas you can find the best hotels and house rentals. We normally rent a house on the Las Pocitas Beach. I love it !

Las Pocitas is just 10 minutes outside of downtown Mancora. I stayed here because some of the nicest resorts are here (DCO, Arennas, Suites etc.) The beach is pretty and wide with big waves that sound amazing. The water is warm and a joy to enter. However, I had a bad experience swimming because there are sharp rocks all over and I cut my hand and foot. I jogged up and down the beach the day before, and there are very few places in Las Pocitas that don't seem to have rocks. Even when there are no visible rocks, there are plenty under the sand that can be exposed at any time based on the tide/waves. So, I loved this beach, but if your goal is to swim or surf, maybe go elsewhere (Punta Sal?). You'll be fine if you just want to wade in for a few minutes.

We stayed for 4 weeks at a hotel on Las Pocitas beach. Very pretty and unspoiled. Surf/rollers not as good as in Mancora bay. Nice walk up/ down beach. No beach cafés but you can pop into most hotels for a drink. Hotels can be pricey. The sea water is usually warmish but was cold during our stay whereas water in Mancora was much warmer. Currents seems very variable.
