The National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park is the largest collection of these amazing birds in the north of England. You will find over 100 owls, eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks kites and more in a spacious 10 acre setting. We are a leader in the captive breeding, welfare and conservation of these awesome birds. Please don't compare us to other bird of prey centres, we are in a different league! We have a team of trained bird who fly three times a day (11.30, 14.00 & 16.15) Different birds are flown at each demo. We even have an indoor area if the weather isn't being kind.

In recognition of the quality of the National Centre for Birds of Prey - we are finalists in the White Rose Awards, the UK's largest regional tourism awards. Fingers crossed!!!

There are a large variety of birds to see with a detailed explanation about each one. The flying display was very good and informative with four birds flown (we had never seen owls flown before). We thought it was a little expensive at £9 as you would struggle to spend more that two hours here even with the flying display.... More

This is the third time we have visited and each time we learn more about these amazing birds. The handlers are so caring and knowledgable.

We had a brilliant day. We saw 2 flying displays and enjoyed watching the birds. We saw eagles, owls, falcons and a buzzard all doing amazing flying. There are lots of other birds there to look at. We brought sandwiches and had a nice picnic: there are picnic benches, and space on the grass in the park. Later we had... More

What an evening to remember! I loved every minute of it. The whole evening was well organised. The handlers were humorous, extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the owls. A real opportunity to observe these amazing creatures. All finished off with a mulled wine and supper. An early Christmas present which I loved. Well worth a visit.

Obviously you are only going to visit if you are interested in the birds. Excellent flying demonstration by knowledgable falconer who make the demonstration informative and interesting apart from the fantastic agora antics of the birds. Perhaps a little expensive but if you get a leaflet beforehand you get 10% off. Unfortunately the cafe was closed when we visited due... More

Thanks for your review. In fact the cafe closes at the end of October and reopens in time for Easter. So whilst there was a birthday party in there on the day of your visit - that wasn't why the cafe was closed. As you know - there is fresh ground coffee, tea and awesome hot chocolate still available in... More

We picked the wrong day to go as it had been snowing but I think on a nice dry day it would be even better but we enjoyed seeing the different birds of pray they had and would go back in better weather to see the gardens as well

Even in poor weather it was a good visit with the flying display being a real highlight. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Really good sign information on each aviary explaining a large amount of interesting information. We've been before but brought a group of friends who were first timers and had a great time

I came here alone with 4 children, and we had a wonderful time, looking at all the birds, the local views, the demonstrations keep us on our toes with the low flying birds :-). The staff all very knowledgeable and friendly.
