My wife and I visited Duncombe Park gardens near Helmsley, North Yorkshire on a week day and found it almost devoid of visitors. It is a HHA property but the house is no longer open to visitors, which is a shame, as it is a...More

Just close your eyes and the tranquillity takes you back to Georgian England. Traditionl gardens and the walks in the woods at this time of year are superb. The only sound is the faint noise of the traffic in Helmsley itself and the roar of...More

You can take a walk along the River Rye and swing up the hill (albeit concreted) up towards Duncombe Park and Helmsley Castle. They hold falconry festivals on the first May bank holiday of the year which are very popular with the clan of Range...More

I come here for dog shows and I can not fault it at all. The place is incredibly pretty, very tranquil. Just an amazing location. Short walk to the village too which is handy.

Hello, we will be a family group coming from Germany for the celebration of the confirmation of our daughter in Ampleforth abbey. Is it possible to have a short guiding tour through the main rooms in the Duncombe building? (Saturday or sunday, the 5th or 6 th of may) It would be wonderful. I came there twice for the christmas sales and enjoyed it very much, hope to hear from you soon, regards, Dagmar von Wedemeyer
